First rounder next year could be useful as it would set you up nicely as a buyer at the deadline.

We're last in the east right now. Id gauge the value/interest on our first rounder right now. If the top 5 is in fact that bad, this may be a good opportunity to get better NHL value than you would on draft day.

I whipped up a batch of something called "Wassail" on Sunday afternoon. The recipe makes 96 ozs, and says that is enough to serve 10 people. The Ukrainian tried a glass but gave the bottom half to me and said it was "too strong." I got 60 ozs left.

Whew!

I like your thinking. We have almost no chance, we might as well try to get the highest pick and trade off the useless parts.

Could be a guy that's already under contract at something that fits well. A younger guy that hasn't quite hit a big payday yet.

I know the cap is a concern, but at some point they have to make room for players that are actually going to be able to contribute. And just stockpiling young guys on ELCs isn't going to work for the most part either. Just look at how long Edmonton took to be competitive, and it took them trading one of their former top draft picks to get there. Not to mention they're still a work in progress. They lost like 4 games or something like that in a row and finally broke that streak by having a rookie player on the opposing team score a goal against his own goalie (also happened to be the game winner )

So people say the problem is scoring goals and I agree with that however, even if we score 2 a game our goalie can't let in 3.
