I would tell each and every one you to go (frank) yourselves but since there's so many of you y'all might as well just (frank) each other.

So is Nurse going to work out or no? Seems prognosis for his potential keeps getting revised. Thoughts from the faithful on where he ends up projecting at?

Progressing nicely when not asked to play over his head. At the very least he should become a very physical top 4 D.

Also its the 15th anniversary of Chuck Schuldiner's death...so listen to this and show some God damned respect! ( the guitar solo at 2:09 is killer also)

I knew I liked you for some reason. So many good Death songs to choose from. My favorite? Flattening of Emotions, Zombie Ritual, Pull the Plug, or Spiritual Healing.

Mad respect bro, Chuck was a self-taught genius. The best bands recycle their parts to stay fresh, he was ahead of the curve on this. And no Cynic without the Human album most likely

My favourites are the Human through Sounds era.so progressive and unique. Left the Death Metal bands in the dust IMO.

1) I honestly dont think I said ANYTHING controversial today

2) Sekera has been covering up for Russell a lot so it's hard to tell how good he's actually been. I can say for certain that he's been fantastic when not with Russell. So, maybe there's your argument.

3) Russell is a terrible passer, hemmed in his own zone all the time, and is a raging tire-fire

4) The eyes are extremely unreliable and have a massive problem sorting good luck from good process. Proper context involves knowing what is what. And I dont trust anybody's eyes if they firmly believe they're seeing Russell play well when he's been objectively awful, and that goes for the eyes of Peter Chiarelli and Todd McLellan.

Response #1: In fairness I was embellishing. Nothing you said was really that controversial. Certainly not Cloutier level but the amount of stuff I personally disagree with was to that similar level.

#2: Sekera has been damn good but not true blue #1 d-man level good. Not Pronger & MAB level covering for Russel. As an example Nurse with Sekera was what a real tire fire looks like. Russel with Sekrea has been good IMO.

#3: Just don't see it. At all. The guy makes mistakes like any top 4 defender does but has avoided Klefbom level gaffs all season long (knock on wood). Has great gap control. Wins boards battles. Has at least decent passing abilities. Think the team is much better with him in our top 4.

#4: I would be very curious what the goalies he has played in front of him think about advanced stats. Because I see a player that contributes to wining very clearly and limits grade A scoring chances very well. I concur with Chiarelli and McLellan. He passes the eye test in spades. To bring up a term I am beginning to hate "he manages the puck well".

Rarely out of position. Despite his "passing" issues if I remember correctly is responsible for at least one or two great break away defensive zone outlets.

I don't think he is a top pairing type or even a great #3 but he is a great #4 IMO and is better than Darnell Nurse, is prone to far less mistakes than Klefbom, is better than Benning, is better than Gyrba even playing his offside and I like Gyrba, and due to being able to play his off side so well is probably better in that role than Davidson (who in general I think is better than Russel).

He very obviously makes our top 4 better. Until we can find another solid right shooting/playing top 4 level defender.

For those intrigued by their music, the first 3 albums were straight DM. The last 4 introduced melodic tendencies, eschewing the gore metal for more metaphysical lyricism. He started shuffling band members after his 3rd release, a member on the last (SOP) was a Howard Stern crew member. Also Control Denied was his attempt to stop lyric duties, got diagnosed with brain cancer after it was recorded, disdained medical treatment so did not get treated in time. Died at 32, which makes my 32 years seem a waste. His parents run his estate.

Out of Death, Obituary, Morbid Angel and Deicide his was easily the best of Morrisound 4 (Tampa crew)

Human was my first Death album like most, still my favorite. I have no issues with any of the 7 though. Did you catch his Control Denied release? Singer also leads Pharaoh now, good progressive metal band

Dubnyk now leading the NHL is save percentage and goals against average. Gagner having a really good year... Schultz playing sheltered (but great) hockey.

i dont think theres any real doubt he'll be a quality defender. what level he gets to is the real question. like we'll never consider it a bad pick like yaks per se.

but for those of us who jumped all over his dik after only seeing some preseason games, it was pretty alarming watching him get eviscerated last year.

but with appropriate minutes and on the 3rd pair this year his development curve was just as it shoulda been. gained confidence, less poor decisions and was able to be an asset carrying the puck. carried the 3rd pair often.

there was a time i thought we probably had our number 1 going forward, but ive taken a step back from that for sure.
hes got all the tools that could go into that echelon, but hes still prone to being erratic with poor decisions.

id say a capable top 4 guy with some intangibles at the very least.
but still a possibility of much more. hope he works hard with his time off working on the little things
