Well, Tampa next won't be easy, then St Louis at home (where they're 12-1-3), Arizona- which for whatever reason means a loss, followed by San Jose and LA. We could easily be looking at a 15-16-5 record by New Year's Eve. Still an improvement, but far from acceptable after the team's start. Key pieces are failing this team and it's at the point where reinforcements through a trade or two should be a priority. |

Oil just need a rest. Its been a female dog of schedule these last couple weeks. I could see them taking 3 of the next 5 games. |

Rest?!!!! Huh! Give me a break they just played there first back to back of the season the other night. The flames for example, have already played 4or 5 back to backs. The blue jackets have played a condensed schedule. The flyers, the penguins, see where I am going here. Stop making excuses they lost fair and square. |

They probably had to borrow because everything at Rogers Place cost so much. |

Since Novemeber started, the Oilers have played 23 games in 43 days only nine of which were at home and had a single 2 day break. Add that to the Western Conference's already difficult travel schedule. Comparatively in those same days, Columbus has played only 20 games of which 11 were at home and they've had 7 two or more day breaks in that same time frame. Add to that the East's relatively easy travel schedule.
It's not an excuse trying to argue that the team didn't lose fair and square (they most certainly did) or even that the schedule-makers are being unfair to the Oilers. Every team has a stretch like this at some point this season; Calgary has managed rather well through theirs while the Jets also struggled through their. It's simply pointing out that they're evidently tired from a long stretch without many breaks or legit, non-game day practices and that a return to a more normalized schedule should see a return to the more polished product we got to see earlier. We hope, that is. |
