thanks for the share. Vechionne sounds pretty good to me, at 5 '10 he's a little undersized but not enough to rule him out. Brady Ferguson also sounds pretty good at 6 ft - neem55
I don't know if Vechionne has the same sort of winning pedigree as Cagguila was described to have but they are the same size. I really don't know if Vechionne plays like brendan gallagher or jonny gaudreau.
Cagguila since coming back from his injury is 1-4-5 in 13 games for the high scoring oilers |

3-1 or 3-2 Canucks depending on how focused Miller is. If he's bad we win 4-3 in OT/SO |

Todd Cordell is with me that "intangibles" shouldn't get you paid in the nhl if you can't do the basic's in today's NHL which is score or prevent scoring. - manvanfan
I dont mind paying a little more for intangibles, but not near what Clutterbuck is making, his actually makes Dorsett look like a good deal |

He scores about 20 points a season and hits. Reading that says his shot suppression is pretty bad. Salary cap era, you can't have 3/4 line players being paid that much unless stars are going to take 500,000 less each. |

To me, the guys that stars are willing to take pay cuts to keep around have whatever intangibles worth paying for. You dont often see it reported in hockey (moreso in football/basketball), but occasionally you see pieces where guys take less to keep teams together |

Are we still outraged that he was called up? Or flabbergasted that he was sent down? |

Thanks Carol,
Good timing as always.
I like what Carolina has done the past few years, they have assembled a solid group of young talent despite not getting to pick in the top 3.
They also have kept those 2nd round picks resulting in Aho, Faulk and Rask to go along with thier top 5 picks in Lindholm and Hanifin.
I imagine the Canucks rebuild will be similar to theirs. - belcherbd
Good point.
This is how i see the rebuild going as well.
Aka, not a tear-it-down tank job like Toronto. |

Not sure it happens to often in Hockey thanks to Escrow. Players are only getting paid portions of their salaries. |

He can go back down and play tomorrow, whoopie he missed 1 game in AHL to get a taste of what travel with the big club is like. |

Yeah pretty much. Garteig got a taste of the AHL life too. It's not as if Demko is going to play every single game for Utica aways, need a break every once in a while. |

the bottom line is, the guys that work hard and do the intangibles are important to have in terms of showing the work ethic you want to see, but are much more common. The skilled guys are the difference between winners and losers in this league. Skill=ability to defend/score/pass/possess/create chances.
clutterbuck/Shaw/dorsett/Martin type guys are being overvalued. When they have their play decline, it really shows. Skill guys that can really get it done are worth more. Islanders last two contracts have been awful. Ladd/clutterbuck for that much money should be a big red flag for JT.
Anyone have an opinion on where Iginla goes? I hope Tampa or St.loouis |

Doubt it would work out cap-wise, but I'd love to see him in MTL. |

Todd Cordell sounds like someone Don Cherry would F'n Hate.
Bieska and Seabrook...... They have so much intangibles that they don't have room for any skill. |

Never thought I'd say it but Miller has looked great his last few starts. Too bad it took him 30 games to do so. Nucks might contend in this one... - LordHumungous
Playing his best hockey in a year and he gets injured...

Calgary is weaker than us on the right wing. If the Flames are challenging for the division it would be poetic. |

I hated the lack deal at the time, mostly because I had thought he had carried this group into the playoffs but a few years later, he hasn't been able to replicate his success here.
I'm certainly happy with the exchange now. - belcherbd
I think Brisbois is quietly going to develop into a reliable character defenseman for the Canucks in a couple of seasons. Lack is a fringe starter at best and we are set up nice in net without him going forward. I'm good with this trade.
