Only reason the lines are numbered is in regards to ice time . Like I said if we had the talent there is no reason to not roll 4 lines with equal time . So he really wouldn't be on a so called 4th no minutes line .

Was playing in Europe since October.

I really wouldn't stress too much about it. With expansion coming, and contracts coming off the books, I think our window was always next year. This year was about establishing who stays or goes and what we need. The Okposo signing was nice, as was locking up #55 with a friendly contract. O'reilly is locked up, eichel and sam have 1 more year on the cheap. Next year is THE year. This year, in my opinion, is still a building year.

Scary part is if Jack and Sam have stand out seasons next year .They will get paid especially is we go deep in the playoffs. Similar to what we went through a few years ago with not enough cap room.

I have my moments

Drake Caggiula was at Sabres camps for 2 years and this offseason we tried sign him, but he signed with Edmonton. Starts are not amazing, 14 games, 5 points. But point is he is a young player with some skill. Still not sure how he will pan out.

Others are pointing out we need young good players, cause those are easy to get (haha). So he is another one (along with Vesey) that we almost had here. Which would have led to Ennis, Girgensons being traded. Maybe even us overpaying by trading them, cause we would have gotten their replacements for free, it would be fine, to help fill more holes.

Drake was wined and dined by the the Canuck's owner (Aquilini), Trevor Linden, Mayor of Vancouver etc. He didn't sign with the Canucks. Did he use them too? Stamkos was wined and dined by the the owner's of the Leafs, CEO of Canadian Tire, etc. He didn't sign with the Leafs - and he is from Toronto. Did Stamkos use the Leafs?

It's called FREE agency. These athletes (Vesey, Drake etc) would be STUPID if they didn't explore all of their options. I don't agree with all of GMTM's moves but i tip my hat to him for at least TRYING to get Vesey, Drake, Stamkos and Babcock to the Sabres.

Gerbe needs to do more listening and less talking.

I am happy GMTM is getting these meetings. Chances are the top players every team wants them, sometimes the cap stops them from getting them, sometimes geological location stops it, sometimes the player says he does not want to play for that team, but in the end, only 1 team gets that player. So with Vesey, every team wanted him (for sure with that low cap hit / contract) but he only can sign 1 place. Keep it up GMTM and we are sure to "win" one of these soon. GMTM is also smart enough not to just sign the next guy up, he said last year he focuses on 2-3 players and if he misses, he just moves on (does not sign the 4th guy just to do something).

Regardless of who brought him up, he is not the answer to the question "why aren't the Sabres higher in the standings?". So even if one's contention was that he "used" us (which he didn't, he exercised the right he had to pick the team he wanted to play for), what does it matter? He'd probably be in the Bailey/Baptiste/Carrier rotation because he is most likely a fringe guy anyway.
