i feel like whaley hasnt been able to pick his guy to be the coach and its been pegula picking the name. just like the sabres and bylsma. i do not think he was murrays guy either - Maninabox13
If you believe the story that came out in 2014, Doug Marrone quit because he felt he couldn't win under Whaley. He has a lot of power on this team. |

I have always that a GM/coach relationship to be one of give and take.
Not one of just a coach reports to a GM and that's it which is what it sounds like is happening at one bills drive.

Free chow at the country club you should treat him nice.
(Your man not the CFO.) - Der Kaiser
I don't need this as a reason to treat him nice. He's very good to me all the time, so being nice is easy. |

Whaley needs to go. This team, even on defense, isn't that talented. They're not devoid of it, but 8-8 or 9-7 is exactly where I expected them to be, and it looks like that is where they will end up. I know it's cliche at this point, but they need to replace Whaley and let the new guy decide what to do with Rex Ryan. - buffalofan19
Gotta disagree. 3 pro-bowlers on the D-line, 2 capable linebackers, with their 2nd rounder hurt, Shaq Lawson, 2 more than capable CB's, with a slot corner that is highly ranked among pro football focus.
Safety is an issue, especially having no back up plan to Aaron Williams.
Whaley has brought in Zack Brown, Corey Graham, Alexander, Worthy, traded for Hughes.
His pickup's have been solid.
In the end, if they don't win however, it's all moot |

I am convinced that the guy to turn this team around will be someone the fan base despises from day one. |

D Grant = D Grant
Larsson = D Grant
Girgensons = D Grant
Falk = D Grant
Cole Schneider = D Grant
Cal O'Reilly = D Grant ETC ETC
That's the problem, to many Derek Grants in this organization. - SABRES 89
This comment is gold. He's the new Matt Ellis. Absolutely nothing remarkable about him, but he doesn't hurt you. The most boring type of player to watch.

Honestly, anyone would be fine.
I can get on board with Whaley being let go. I just see this as the opposite as the Sabres.
Whaley came into a 6-10 team, and made them .500 or better.
If Tyrod had improved, it's a 10-6 team. Not good enough, but that was the goal, to end the drought.

I think GM and Coach get one more year. I'm not sure Bills fans have the stomach for a total tear down 2-14 season. I sure as hell don't. I hope we renegotiate TT's contract and bring in a vet to challenge for his spot. Try again next year for 10-6

I don't think Taylor gets another year, there isn't a chance he renegotiates his contract with the guaranteed money that is due to him next year.
John Clayton has thought he is the guy after the Seahawks game and still said it before the Steelers game.
I don't think there is a veteran out there that would last behind the terrible offensive line. They are good at run blocking but pass protection not a chance. |

Now would be the time, unfortunately. Brady is 40. Instead of trying to go for the Wild Card, go for the division and contention in 3 years.

That wastes all the talent you said they have though...
Btw I agree they do have a lot of talent.
But in 3 years, No Kyle Williams, No Shady, Dareus who knows, Hughes would probably be gone or have slowed down a lot.
And on top of that I have zero faith the team would draft the right QB... |

They would be wasted, but it might be the best thing for them to do.
McCoy is here next year only IMO regardless, he has dead cap money until '18. IMO his deal was always a 3 year plan. Clay will be gone.
You will have Glenn, Watkins, Lawson, Darby, Ragland, Brown, some decent pieces to keep down the road. Draft a QB in rounds 2 or 3, have them compete wit Cardale, if you hit, great, if not, pray you go 2-14 next year and there is a franchise guy |

I don't disagree timing wise, but the whole thing is such a gamble. If you draft 1-2 in the NHL, you're almost guaranteed someone good (yes, yes, Yakapov), but we could draft 1-2 and not have a shot at a good quarterback.
I've said it here before, but there just aren't enough good QBs in the NFL. It's set up to be a passing league, but there isn't enough talent. It honestly feels hopeless.

Then you keep drafting high until someone comes around.
No matter how much talent we have had or not had, the best team we have fielded in the last 17 years also was the team that threw for over 4,000 yards. (2004, Bledsoe)

I think i heard this on Schopp and Bulldog, and i'm pretty sure they didn't actually mean it, but just draft a qb in rounds 1-6. Yeah, everyone will make fun of you. Who the hell cares?
Not enough time for each guy with the receivers? don't care.
They might all suck? I don't care. |

problem is you have running option quarterbacks
you either built your playbook around those, or pocket passers
if you keep tyrod, you need to draft a qb that can run

I think the jaguar coach down here, gus bradley has the worst record all time of any NFL coach
when he gets canned in a few weeks, watch whaley bring him in for an interview

Seems being a Bills fan is more depressing than being a Sabres fan. I'm glad i'm part of the latter . |
