They've also went from scoring 2.6 goals per game (18th in 2015-2016) to 3.3 goals per game (3rd this season)
But yes goaltending has been huge they gave up 2.93 goals per game in 15-16 (24th) and this year they are only giving up 2.07 goals per game (2nd).
Defensively they are giving up fewer shots per game as well.
Sounds to me like the team bought into Tort's style. Maybe just maybe continuity is a good thing... - Stripes77
You could be right. Though I was still frustrated during the Kings game because you could see for the most part that when they got the lead they went into that "sit back and protect the lead" mode that we've all complained about all season.

There were a few times when I saw it, but the second Carter goal woke them up and they started playing again.
Some call it coaching, I call it a young team learning how to win together.

ROR- C
Okposo-A
Risto-A
You can swap Okposo for Eichel but that's the way I see it. - Stripes77
While I don't disagree with O'Reilly getting the C, just watching how this team has responded with Eichel back in the lineup is pretty telling IMO. I don't see how you don't at least give him an A based on that alone.

For sure. Especially since it basically happened because of a bogus icing call. I hope you're right and it's not the coach telling them to play that way.

I touched on it in an above post.
I would rather him score 50 and put up 90 points. He will get a letter eventually I just don't want to throw more responsibility on him until he is ready.
But really they are only letters. Great teams have several leaders on them.

A guy that plays 30 minutes a night that has taken over full control of the blue line deserves the A.
I love Jack don't get me wrong, but you don't have to give him a letter.
Let him score 50 and put up 90 points. He will get a letter eventually. - Stripes77
So hold up The guy that everyone proclaims that makes this team a playoff team
and makes players around him better and changes the dynamic of the team
Does not deserve the A or C right now?
I love Ryan O'Reilly too but where was he when the suck fest happen he didn't change anything ..just saying

ROR's lack of point production 5 on 5, is enough for me to justify giving jack the C and ror an a

not a dig, just reality - homiedclown
Everyone knows ROR is a leader. But this is Jack's team, just like the Pens are Crosby's, Oilers are McDavid's, Islanders are Tavares', etc. He gets the C, and if he doesn't, I blame Russ Brandon.
