Think about Larkin and Jack on the same line though

I totally understand that, my point is, aside from Draisaitl and Bennett, no one else was worth drafting there. I like Reinhart over Bennett, so Draisaitl looks like he should've been the guy to draft, but again, you can be the best scout, but it's still largely luck. So we had a 1 in 3 shot and got the second best player. Could be better could be worse. I understand that people want to have an "elite" player there, but simply put, there is no one there that's "elite". Yet. It's not like it was between Marner and Reinhart. Draisaitl doesn't exactly do all the things people expect from Reinhart. He plays great with McDavid, not so well away from him.

It's a fair point I guess. Still sucks though. Hindsight is a female dog

I don't care if the player is from the late rounds he's a the head scout he should know

You can't (frank) up a first overall pick for a forward ( when we tanked for him)

- GERBE!!!75PTS

about 75% of the 1st round picks dont live up to their potential....

....yet everyone knows how players will develop in the first round.

We are learning lessons about how to win, but still more to go. Still need a sniper.

This may be the right time to hit redial on Jim Benning.

Or Tallon.

Although the way we were frustrated last night by the Canes says the need might be 1LW first.

Not sure there's anything like that available. No doubt they frustrated us but we win this game in regulation with a better 2nd pairing. A boring win, but a win.

I think as long as they are playing at a clip above .500, they are going to stand pat

Come on. Come on. Come on.

The play of the second pair last night was no more outcome determinative than at least half a dozen other factors and in any event a single game should never be the reason a team makes a trade.

Moreover, you can't prioritize the D trade with a toss off observation that "no sniper appears to be available." What do you have to suggest Tanev or Matheson is available.

You ought to hang your head over that one. You're better than that.

It absolutely was though, and im not just referring to the blunder on the goal they gave up.

The two of them gave up the most shot attempts against of any player on the ice and the most scoring chances (perhaps even the best scoring chances against although unverified), including the only goal against which again was a head scratcher. They generate next to nothing offensively to make up for it.

Second, Im not prioritizing the adding a d-man because no sniper is available. This team needs another d-man no matter who they have up front, that much we have established. I have nothing to suggest that Tanev or Matheson is available. Mostly because Tanev is and should be an untouchable top pairing guy and Matheson is a young d-man the Panthers have high hopes for. Thats not who im suggesting they go after(although at some point they should go look for one).

Second pairing guys are always available for the right price, which is why I hinted that it might be the right time to revisit the Kane to VAN rumours as his recent run may have pushed his value closer to that.

This isn't a one off incident. Ristolainen and McCabe have for the most part done well in their duties as top pair. The bottom pair while overpaid has also for the most part done its job. In fact if the middle pair was any good, Risto wouldn't be forced in a situation where 25:30 minutes is considered a soft night for him.

Im not in any way suggesting that because of one play the sabres should make a trade to upgrade the second pair. They should do that because that pairing simply makes little to no plays offensively and doesn't really prevent much defensively to warrant the ice time and pay that they receive.

Come on man, Bogo just came back from missing time. He needs additional time to actually recover. By next year he should be ready to rock and roll

Can we still do the thing where his buyout would be cheap or is he too old?

Its not that I think Kaiser is wrong, we absolutely should try and add a scorer. But to me this is the obvious and in reality easiest starting point for a fix that could put us over the top.

They take up the 2nd most minutes and give you the least amount of value when you factor in cap space. You could literally build a better pairing using the 2nd and 3rd round picks they have now plus whatever you get back from moving those two.

Last year would have been the last, he'll be 26 at the earliest possible buyout date.

I had a dad want to fight me at an event we held at my rink yesterday. He was mad he had to wait in line to get in, the event started at 2, it was 1:52pm when he got in my face.

That's how I feel when I read some of the posts on here. People are arguing over nonsense.

Junior you need ADHD medication.

Broads is the old guy at a bar that thinks he knows everything.

Cabin and Kaiser are the cool old guys at the bar that you could sit with for hours and listen to their stories and when you try to get up to head to the bathroom you fall over from those guys getting you hammered.

Homie is one of the regulars you see on a golf course but I wouldn't trust to play for money cause he would clean you out.

And then there's me. I don't always pretend to be the smartest guy in the room but when I do I prefer the room to be this one. Stay thirsty my friends.

Everyone calm down. 5 outta 6 points in the last 3 games. Carolina is a boring team to play. It makes for not so good hockey. If they get 6 more points by the end of December they will be in good shape.

Everyone have a great Holiday Season (even you Broads).

There's gotta be a team out there dumb enough to take him on. If someone would trade for Gudbranson there's hope for Bogosian.

Like everyone says he has all the tools, he skates well, is built well, can get in on the offense. He's just bad at defense. I'd still like to put him in an offensive role and see what happens.
