Yeah, I'd like to see Marner with Matthews, but also understand that Matthews is better able to shelter the load of being king taint (i.e. stuck between Hyman and Brown ) better than Willie would.

Not to mention of course, Hyman - Willie - Brown would be just too much innuendo for Lou

Austaint Matthews.

I would like to see Leivo, Matthews, Marner but would accept closer to the brown half or the taint with Leivo, Matthews, Brown.

But none of that matters because we get to see the GOAT!!!

Whoa, didn't realize the Leafs were only 4 points out of 3rd in their division with 2 games in hand.

How the (frank) did they manage to pull that off?

- WingmanWillie

5 game blocks

And we're 6 points out with 3 games in hand

That's pretty good, but I prefer Hunnypole.

If you were to do the draft over again, now knowing 100 percent what laine can do, would it be a harder choice?

On Pace 82 43 27 70 17
vs
On Pace 82 38 25 63 -3

And considering one is playing with Scheifle and Ehlers, the other with Hyman and Nylander......no. Gotta go with the top line centre over the top line winger everytime. ie. You gotta take Yzerman and Sakic over Brett Hull every time.

You mean scoring on his own net?

Bad troll is bad at his job.

Matthews has almost as many goals, with far lower quality linemates, and he plays center.

Case closed, its a no brainer

You know what wouldn’t be a harder choice.

Any of benning’s 1st round picks. Got every single one wrong and left a solid nhl player on the board.

Well, Nylander and Ehlers would be close to equal....is Hyman anywhere close to Scheifle? Also I added more to my post.

Not sure there's a comparison to be made there

Matthews is the better player, without question

And in doing so, you have to consider linemates. My preference, and the preference of most is pick the centre. Especially when he's already leading our team in scoring.

I sense you have this all scripted, and aren't really interested in listening to why we prefer Matthews.

It factors into their stats right now, and you know that. Matthews is having a great rookie season, and from what we've seen, we're comfortable knowing we got a franchise centre. Laine's a great player though, hopefully Marner can fill the role Laine could've.

All I asked was if it would be a harder choice. To which you guys answered with a resounding no.

After years of having Kessel with Bozak we desperately needed a true #1C before another really good winger without a center.

Laine is a great winger who can score at both ends of the ice.

Matthews is a great #1C.

Bottom line, end of story....we had to take the center.
