Comparing Gretzky and lemieux I never hear about linemates
- Swaggins

How about comparing Ovie and Malkin?

You can only choose 1 to build a team around, do you take the elite center or the prolific scoring winger?

If you were to do the draft over again, now knowing 100 percent what laine can do, would it be a harder choice?
- Swaggins

no

It would be as easy a choice now as it was then.

It factors into their stats right now, and you know that. Matthews is having a great rookie season, and from what we've seen, we're comfortable knowing we got a franchise centre. Laine's a great player though, hopefully Marner can fill the role Laine could've.

All I asked was if it would be a harder choice. To which you guys answered with a resounding no.

Fine

Pretty much how we feel right now. Ask us when the season is over. Who knows, maybe Matthews slumps again. I doubt it though.

After years of having Kessel with Bozak we desperately needed a true #1C before another really good winger without a center.

Laine is a great winger who can score at both ends of the ice.

Matthews is a great #1C.

Bottom line, end of story....we had to take the center.

Laine is the best 2-way scorer the game has ever seen.

Laine. But that wasn't the choice we were given. And before you ask Werenski or Marner.....I probably would take Werenski.

I would take Bergeron over either of the Sedins as well.

Sorry my Leafy friends, but I think I have to go Laine on this one and I really like Marner.

I'm comparing Matthews to Laine
- Swaggins

It's not even a comparison. Laine is an amazingly talented winger who will likely win a rocket richard or two in his time.

Matthews is a centre who can carry a line, play tough match-ups and still be the team's top scorer, all while showing one of the highest hockey IQ's that I've ever seen in blue and white.

Tie-breaker - Matthews knows which net is his

Not poopting on Laine, and I'm pretending you're not trolling, but I would still take Marner. Really like the kid's game.

Especially now that we know his size isn't going to be an issue for the NHL.

Same. Marner is magnificent, but Laine is really special too, and that skill at that size does not come along easily.

Your turn. Knowing what you know now, would you rather have #6 overall Virtanen or anyone from the 6th round of the same draft?

I'd take Laine over Marner too. But fortunately we don't have to make that choice!

Not the direction I thought you were going to go, but ok, to each their own.
