All I asked was if it would be a harder choice. To which you guys answered with a resounding no.
Fine - Swaggins
Don't kid yourself, if Jets had a choice of the two players right now, it would be an easy "Matthews" as well. |

Your turn. Knowing what you know now, would you rather have #6 overall Virtanen or anyone from the 6th round? - 1979AD
Tough question
Both have the same odds of making a steady nhl pay cheque |

Nothing to think about. Laine is a great scorer but Matthews is a player that makes everyone playing with him great....
If you actually watched Matthews play, you would understand why the choice would be a no brainer. |

Let's say the worst thing in the world happens and Montreal faces Vancouver in the SCF.

Marner>matthews>laine - Swaggins
Marner has amazing vision and a motor that doesn’t stop.
But Mathews’ ability to improve is unreal. It’s hard to even say what his potential is.
and i take laine over marner. |

He has, but imagine the storm if they had that number one pick and could choose.
And I don't buy the Gary Lawless logic of "well, they have Schiefele and Little so didn't need Matthews" as that's BS - you take the best damn player at #1. |

I doubt any Leaf fan would take Marner over Laine....and I doubt any NHL GM would take Laine over Matthews. |

Fine - Swaggins
Leafs needed a centre, not another winger. Even if Laine outscores Matthews by 20 points at the end of the year Auston was still the right choice. Nothing hard about it at all. |

Marner is the next Patrick kane
Plays the exact same way. Does not just give the puck up. He never just dumps it in. He makes a play.. Doesn't matter if his line hoes for a change and he is the only one in the O zone
He is slippery and if you give him any space it's a scoring chance.
He will lead the league in points by 24 years of age |

JVR is a soon to be UFA that will command a zillion dollar contract who has potted 30 or more goals once in his career. His value is less than any Canucks and Leaf fans are delusional for thinking otherwise.
That should about cover his response. |

Wrong. That's Pastrnak.
Maybe even Vatrano. I could see him putting up bigly numbers when he gets his feet under him. |

I'm pretty sure Dreger proposed a Morgan Reilly and a pick trade for Trouba. |
