Like I mentioned . THe D that were drafted are usually a few years away. Very few and a rarity they start out flying in the NHL. Even Risto sucked but showed promise every game he played .

And if we're really going to be a playoff team next year,
Then u don't want a young kid who's learning on the job to be in a position where his youth & inexperience is gonna cause him to make mistakes

Ease him in
Develop him the right way

The headline on the facebook edition of this article:

“Mr. Viola, before we get your thoughts on logistical priorities for our military, can you explain why in the world you thought trading Dmitri Kulikov to Buffalo for Mark Pysyk made any sense at all?”

http://www.sportsnet.ca/h...rama-new-surreal-heights/

Wow, Mark Pysyk gets no respect except by Matt Collar and his good soldiers here. Now that Dale Tallon has taken over, in the video above the article Doug McClean said he would never have made the Kuli deal. We got the better pick too.

Yeah I don't see how the Redskins let him walk, I wasn't counting him as available...

After the RG3 debacle they cannot let Cousins walk.

Not every player needs to be developed the same way, and right now, he's the 3rd best D on the team, so unless they're going to get at least two other better D men, he's in the top 4.

I think ppl are prematurely putting Guhle in our top4
Eventually... sure, ok
But definitely not next year
Probably not for a few years

- jdfitz77

who here thought McCabe would be the player his is right now...I think bogo had a lot to do with the maturation process...no reason why it can't happen again with guhle

collar was/is a big stats geek...I like the follow up one which might be more damning:

Or perhaps, “Yes sir, we understand your stance on new forms of West Point training. But why did you think it was a good idea to fire Scott Luce after he drafted Alexander Barkov, Nick Bjugstad, Jonathan Huberdeau, Aaron Ekblad and Vince Trocheck?”

No, he said Dale Tallon wouldn't have made that deal if he was in charge over the summer like he is now. Kuli is the better Dman but his contract is up after this year which the writer, Damien Cox and McClean, do not take into account evidently.

I don't miss Pysyk and I remember the draft Darcy seemed disappointed with the pick at the post draft interview. They wanted a forward but the ones they wanted were gone so they had to settle for Pysysk,

Oh yeah, if I was writing on a Panthers blog and Viola had his blind fans, I would have pointed that one out.

Eh 2 to 1 TD to INT ratio.

30 TD's 15 picks.

It's not lights out but its not god awful.

Personally looking at that list I would give Rex and Tyrod one more year, knowing Taylor gets 2 years with the money he is due. His new contract still pays him bottom 3rd in the league among starters. Sabres fans were able to suck it up for the tank, I am not sure Bills fans could.

yeah...I can see that...I just remember watching an awkward giraffe in the pocket when watching glennon...

meh...I think keeping rex is a good idea for now

IF...

they bring someone in above him and whaley to run the football operations...

same thing with the sabres...i'd love to see them with a vice president of hockey ops at the helm...

get Brandon as far away from operations as possible

I had our defense as...

McCabe-Ristolainen
Zadorov-Myers
McNabb-Pysyk

Also,
McCabe started in the AHL
Then the 3rd pair
And then the top4, before getting his shot on the top pair

And that's EXACTLY how it should be done
(For the most part, with a FEW exceptions)
Guhle is not one of those exceptions imo

Exactly!

Admittedly biased. Never was a fan of any of the Ryan's, including Papa Buddy. Hated the hiring and it played out pretty much exactly how I expected. Whaley needs to go as well.

guhle may end up starting on the bottom pairing, but methinks his skill-level will move him up quickly

- GilPerreault11

You used to think Pysyk was better than McCabe when you wanted someone to blame for Bogo's disasters. What changed all the sudden?

No one cares Pysyk is gone. What people care about is that Murray identified two below average D men in Kulikov and Bogosian to be top 4 players here.

Trade McCabe for all I care, just replace him with someone better
