Kane was hurt, we were subtracting Stafford. Myers is probably better than Bogo, so that was a downgrade too. So we had a double downgrade. That helped get to last.

Sabres finished with 54, so added 19 points after the trade.
Arizona: 56. 9 points (!!!!) post trade.

My opinion is they would have finished last either way. Neither of the guys we "lost" were positive impact players. Not enough to finish anywhere but last anyways.

They were positive relative to who we got to replace them, one of the Varones and Doug Janik(I don't remember who the actual players were). In that sense they absolutely positive. We saw how Arizona was in free fall, Toronto too, but they waited too long, we knew we had to do something to do as much to guarantee last place.
