if you mean moving youngins into slots left open by those who've been subtracted, then proper player development may not occur...

what players like Franson, kuli, Gionta and gorges, d-lo, gus, grant and to an extent bogo have allowed the team to do is properly develop their players...we saw what happened when nelson was in the lineup and we're seeing how long it's taken carrier, bailey and baptiste to develop and they're not even completely there yet

i meant more what ssk was referring to. I dont want to rush the youngins im just saying the core while unfinished is strong, you move out the secondary guys taking up too much space it frees you up to get creative and because of how good the core guys are we dont necessarily need to overspend to make this an effective team. We have big money guys who have a negative impact. if you add a low risk guy or a good value guy who has a neutral or positive impact not only will you improve the team but you position yourself to make a big move without hurting your cap situation long term. Developing the young players properly was a reference to keeping the "cycle" of players alive the way Chicago has for so long.


Edit: Although in the case of say Guhle and possibly Nylander and Fasching you may be able to swap them in for the bad value contracts as early as next year.

I'd seriously look and see if any GM still thinks he can be an impact player. Because I'm certainly feeling he's not.

Impact is a relative term though. In Reinharts case his value to one team will not be the same as the other.

We're not as "high" on him because we've already got a guy in O'reilly who brings a similar style and while i wouldnt use that as a reason to move him it helps explain that. I haven't looked into it but there may be a team thats got its sharp shooters but they cant pile up the goals because they dont have the set up guy.
