No, his point was that it takes longer than four years. None of your examples are exact or correct. Doughty didn't put the kings over the top, that team took years to build and they hit on a perfect formula of great goalie supported by a well coached big bodied forechecking team that wears people down. They took everyone by surprise winning that first cup, they barely made the playoffs that year. Built to do damage in the playoffs, but not guaranteed to make the playoffs as built and coached. You are tiresome.
- DonLuce20

So the Kings aren't an example of a team that was bad previously, drafted high, and then we're able to make moves to become a contender? And did you just say Doughty, as in Drew effin Doughty didn't put them over the top?

Good god man.

Dude, I don't even know what to tell you. They were targeting the top pick in the '14 draft when Darcy was still here. The rebuild was in full effect. Darcy was fired and Nolan and Patty were brought in because the fans had pitchforks in their hands. It was a PR move while we purposely sucked

So, in hindsight, he was able to imply that he had started to rebuild with the Gaustad trade. Wow, I'm sure that was his vision all along.

LINDY AIN'T GOING NOWHERE

I really wasn't paying attention to your conversation with Sboards, I wasn't trying to pick a side. I was just doing some reading from around that point in time of the Sabres history and came across the article. I knew a few people here were still discussing exactly when the rebuild began so I thought it may help.

The Edmonton fan wants to think the average rebuild takes 10 years because Edmonton's rebuild is taking 10 years.

I provided examples of other teams similar to us, who have drafted high, made significant trades, and contended for a cup earlier than 10 years.

Kings drafted Brayden Schenn 5th, Doughty 2nd, then made trades for Carter and O'Reilly, our equivalent to ROR and Kane, and contended for a cup soon after.

Chicago and Pittsbugh, and now Edmonton all changed management after being bad for years, they didn't just dot back and let it continue to happen, they made changes until they got it right

- sbroads24

The average scorched earth, teardown rebuild takes about 10 years because history has proven as much.

The LA Kings missed the playoffs six years in a row...won the cup on their 3rd try at playoff hockey. How many playoff seasons have your team missed in a row now?

They don't?

Come on.....

- sbroads24

I would think the rebuild started with trading our #1 goalie (miller)
our 40 goal scorer (Vanek) and our 20-30 goal scorer (pommer) To me that is the demolition of the old and start from the basement up. As we got rid of our 3 best players.

Ok, I agree, but this stopped being a "scorched earth" rebuild when they traded for Kane, ROR and Lehner.

I doubt I'm the only one who noticed Foligno fighting the past 3 games in a row I think it is now?

Either way, watch him ice his hand up the last two fights. He's hurting.

But this is OBVIOUS venting of frustration and I don't think it is the losing (especially when we are up 2-0 on the road and getting in a fight in that situation usually only helps the home team).

Hint: It's the coach and the players clearly do not like him.

Exactly. Doughty was an excellent player that made an impact early. But they had just spent the previous 5 years drafting and developing and stickpiling young picks and assets to make those trades that sent them over the top. Doughty wasnt the piece that did it, it was after that when they got Carter and Richards and Sutter behind the bench.
