Wonder if this is what's been causing all the issues for him all season.

Oh btw, I think the Pegulas' free pass has come and gone...

It's kind of turned into the monkey's paw scenario.

You get to keep both teams, but they both stink... and don't look to be getting any better.

remember that backhand after he circled in the offensive zone some games back?...that's the way he was all last season--would not be denied

not so much this year, and I don't think it's because he's changed his style of play

Eh, O'Reilly is a really good player. But he did go what, 21 games without a goal last year? He had an amazing first 35-40 games here, and since has sort of settled into his role as an all around good 2nd line center

Not criticizing him, just hoping more or less Reinhart can make it less of a tough pill to swallow

it's fair to criticize a player like him who had a goal-drought like that

He's been much more invisible this year than he was during that stretch last year though. He wasn't getting goals, but he was still contributing in a big way every night. This year, not so much...

And he started the season out injured, then missed a bit more time not too much longer afterwards and is now out again. I just get the feeling this all has to be related somehow.

The pegulas brought in two coaches with cache. It hasn't worked out so far, but I don't see how any of this is their fault. If anything, they're showing that patience is wearing thin. Most owners would keep rex so they aren't paying two coaches at one time

Definitely. I just think his first 40 games or so here where he looked like an 80 point player was sort of an aberration

Okay, so nobody gave the Sabres any hope of not being crappy. We lose our best player one day before the start of the season and he gone for 1/3 of the season. We lose our new, albeit, not our best defenseman, when a door decided to assault him. Our goaltender is still getting mugged by the ice. And, now our second best player, best leader on the team has one of his organs removed in an emergency.

And, after all of this, if we bottom out, I can guarantee we'll still be called on tanking and be referred to as a disgrace.

That used to be the case for sure, small cities with owners more interested in profit than going all out. We now have an owner who wants to win above all. It's going to take time because Buffalo has a very bad reputation as a place to play, and that won't change easily. We need to get and keep a top flight coach next, and Mr. Pegula has been trying. Ralph Krueger to Sabers, Bill Cower to Bills.
- Paulfromny

I was born and raised in Buffalo so I know the deal but, Ralph Kruger hasn't even been mentioned within the team.

Russ Brandon is a business man. I don't understand why people want him fired, other than the fact that he has been here for the whole drought and was briefly a crappy GM. He has no bearing on the on field/on ice product.

Whaley definitely needs to go.

Depending on how things shake out, I could see him getting a career high here at some point. Once Eichel starts to really draw the top defense pairings and the rest of the roster shakes out a bit better, it's possible that we could see his numbers go up a good amount at some point.

I used to believe this as well. Now, I'm not so sure.

There's a common denominator here....

We haven't had a good quarterback in his prime since the Clinton administration?
