Brandon and Whaley somehow come out of this with their jobs intact and their power largely undiminished. At the risk of insulting a departed Hall of Famer, they're carrying on the dysfunctional legacy of the previous owner. This franchise remains an extension of Ralph Wil - Buffalo39
How about this: People don't come in to praise the Sabres for a good goal or a win because it's a farce and we've been stood up at this dance for way to long now?
Also, we're sick of a losing culture.
Also, Terry Pegula is not doing ANYTHING good for the City of Buffalo. Just his stupid Hotel La Skyway. - BeadyEyedDouche
What makes you think you're entitled to anything?
Yeah, you're right, Pegula is a blight on downtown, he didn't almost single handedly turn it around. He's not the reason why big hockey tournaments are coming here, why the combine is here making loads of money for downtown businesses and hotels. Come on man.
I have seen nothing to show me we have the horses/foundation to compete for a cup in years ahead
even if guhle is a 1st pair d man and nylander is an 80 point player
a shake up is needed - homiedclown
Agreed. Need to completely revamp our D core and top 9.
Only ones on roster who I think deserve to be in the top 9 on a playoff roster are
Eichel, Reinhart, O'Riley, Okposo and Kane. And I think Kane is more in the bottom end of the top 9.
As far as defense goes I think we only have two of our top six all ready on the roster. Three if you want to count Guhle. And only one out of those three has shown thus far he deserves to be a top pairing guy.
We also have no solid franchise goalie in place and our pipeline is bleak with the exception of Petersen at Notre Dame

I was a prequel kid. I haven't watched them during adulthood though so I reserve judgement - chilliard77
Attack of the Clone sis garbage but I think Phantom Menace is severely under-rated. Not a master-stroke by any means, but I think it captured the atmosphere of the original trilogy in a way Episode 2 and 3 didn't. It felt very organic and really, Jar Jar is not as annoying as everyone says. He's just kind of.... minstrel.

A lot of us are making the mistake of blaming Bylsma (I think he's rotten, still). But who hired him? GMTM.
Who hired GMTM? Pat LaFontaine.
Who hired Pat LaFontaine?
Ted Black.
Who hired Ted Black?
Terry Pegula.
All signs point to T-Pegs.
I'm one of the very select few who refused to brand him a savior, and I hated him buying the Sabres, even more buying the Bills. The whole thing is just so dirty.
His fracking money will curse both franchises for another 40 years.

I don't think anyone here thinks they're done building. It's a gradual thing. The plan, let's not get bogged down in details at the moment. The plan is to get better number 1, but get better, then make the playoffs, then compete in the playoffs, then be a true contender. All the while drafting and developing, and maybe trading for players. Nobody's saying this is the team, we're not allowed to add to it.

the 1 problem I have is they never showed the evil side in darth maul
it was the first brick in the foundation so I can overlook most of the other minor things

look at rochester
you would expect, after all these years with pegula owning them, if we were close to being decent then rochester would not be so pathetic

We can not be done building but still make the playoffs you know. Teams behind us in the rebuild like Toronto are doing it. Teams who just tread water and never rebuilt are doing it like Columbus and Ottawa. I just think enough is enough with the excuses. It's time to show some results from three years of complete piss poor product.

again, if we had lots of promise in rochester, I could overlook it a little
rochester is a mess, and we are at the point where murray's guys are starting to have an impact, or lack of in rochester

Darth Maul was a scary villain. The light sabre scene at the end was up there with the ESB and RotJ, but had the best ending of any. All ended with at least an extremity falling. That must've been George Lucas's thing, just like Temple of the Doom
Ennis is an odd one, he was good and looked set for a place in the top 6 and then he got off to a slowish start with a terrible SH% last year, and then got hurt, and then got hurt again, and then got hurt again. So in this system we really don't know what we have.
Bogo, well, yeah... I have nothing for that. I mean he was good enough to get that contract. I think it was partly a dump on Winnipeg's part too though.
Gorges was they needed a veteran and didn't want to appear to totally tank, and probably a bit so they could get to the floor, same goes with Moulson, the only way he'd come here is if he got the money.
Since they've been trying to win they haven't added any dead weight, so there is that.

I think a large part of it comes down to the lack of organizationl defensive depth.
The guys we brought in at forward are producing at a decent level.
AHL guys like Schneider and COR. Young prospects like Baptiste and Bailey.
Our defenders in ROchester are a joke and the goalies aren't that great either all though I do think Ullmark if he progresses could potentially someday be a reliable number 2 in the NHL
