Anybody else get the feeling that Jack wanted to break his stick over Reinhart's face at the end of the game? He did not look pleased.

I'm not typically "fire the coach" guy without a decent body of work, but I am officially done with Bylsma. He is holding the talent on this team back. The times we look like a competent team, sporadic as they may be, are when we are carrying the puck into the zone and creating. Eichel, Kane, ROR, etc. The problem is, they hardly EVER do it.

And someone mentioned breakaways/odd-man rushes. These never happen. We're never ready to transition. I'm no expert in hockey Xs and Os, but the eye test tells me we are better than this. Does Babcock have the Leafs sitting back on their hands, playing "responsible" defensive hockey?

I may be simplifying things, but I want a coach who wants to score goals. We have guys who can do it.

- Deuce81

Who exactly is he holding back?

Lehner is having a career year as far as durability and Sv%
Ristolainen is having a career year
Kyle Okposo is playing like he has his whole career
Evander Kane is finding his game this year
Larsson is having close to a career year
Marcus Foligno is looking like a solid player
Eichel is a stud, looks great
McCabe is proving he can play on a top pair

Who exactly is getting held back? Girgensons?

Bylsma neutralizes his best defenseman by playing him with Gorges

Well, unfortunately, Bogo needs McCabe to babysit him

I'm hoping that moving McCabe to the 2nd pair with Bogosian was to try and get Bogo back on track. Didn't work. He looked like a tire fire last night.

I also don't understand how they come out and play like their hair is on fire for the 1st period, and then look like they're asleep for the majority of the next 2 periods.

Is it really that much to ask for a full 60 minute effort? I'm not saying it's the coach that's the problem in that regard, because they're professionals, but why is there such a huge swing in pretty much every single game?

What I noticed last night (and I noticed it last year as well when he came back from his injury) is that Bogo seems to be a step behind all the time. It took a good 20 or so games for him to seem to "catch up" to the speed of the play.

For a guy that's injured as often as he is, that can't happen. I can deal with the injuries every year, what I can't deal with is the 20 or so games it takes him to figure out where he's supposed to be and when he's supposed to be there. It's brutal.

I'm not a big Bylsma fan, but I don't see who all the sudden breaks out under a different coach.

I think if anything, someone like Girgensons finds his game again.

Team has regressed just like I predicted they would this past summer.

I have no faith in Pegula/Brandon. They simply are incapable of providing winning leadership for the organization.

We needed a Lou Lamereillo to come in and oversee hockey ops.

Toronto is just one team that is better than us now and is positioned to be better than us for years to come.

This is all so disappointing.

I'm with you on that. I was willing to give him a chance. He can be a solid player, but you only see that after about 20 games or so of him not being on the injured list, and he's on the injured list far too often.

Honestly, I thought Girgs had a lot of strong plays last night and seems to be embracing his role a bit more these days. The problem is the rest of the team around him seems to be asleep right now.

What period are we talking about? They were definitely aggressive in the 1st. Might have been their best 20 minutes all season. The rest of the game they were asleep on their feet.

Yes, but then I'll prepare to watch Lehner's Sv% dip, and our defense look even worse.

It's a trade off.

This team got doubled up in shots after the 1st. Not because of coaching, because the Bruins remembered they were the better team

Holy hell this thread! 89>39, Go talk on some geek blog Star Wars fan boys, Pegula started a renaissance downtown, but hasn't figured out how to run sports teams yet, and Kaiser blasting people without getting banned (like I did for blasting Gerbe, who always deserves it). Oh and birds. Birds.

Agreed. I loved the first period. That's how I envision this team. The question is, did they just get lazy and complacent afterwards, or was the coach trying to reign things in to protect the lead.

I have no idea. Just seems like a suspiciously dramatic shift in the style of play for the following 40 mins.

Do you do commas? Because the first post was 89>39, as in 89 is greater than 39. Then there was a comma, then another thought unrelated to the first one. But i'll go pipe down I guess.

It's frustrating. Because you can see that they have the capability to play that way. But why is it that they can't seem to sustain it? It's like the Philly game all over again. It's happened WAY too many times this year.
