Holy poop that's a wide margin. Any team is better if you add 3-4 studs. But you have to nail it. Just like the Sabres are a 7 game winstreak to being right back in this thing. - Buffalo--Sabres
Yep. 3-4 playrs I think for us. On defense we have Risto and McCabe, the hope is Guhle will be #3 and we still need a 4th (maybe UFA or trade) to round out the top pairings. Bottom pairing is easy to fill. On Offense, we hope Nylander will be good and I still think one more stud is needed, hopefully this draft will do it (Patrick or Nico) That's 2 players for the Defense and 2 players for the offense. But above all we need to get ride of a lot of salary cap eaters who are just taking up a roster spot. |

Yeah but fans aren't supposed to have the ideas. We're the fans. We'll always have our opinions, but why is it the role of the Buffalo sports fan is worrying about coaching, the GM, draft position, the salary cap management? At that point you're just playing armchair GM while fans of other teams are having the actual fun. - Buffalo--Sabres
Just meant that critiquing the teams is a fun, interesting departure from important things in life. I love hockey. I want a cup, but my teams don't define me. You do not have to worry about how to fix the sports team, you are fee to spout out complaints without any suggestions, its just more interesting when the complaint comes with interesting alternatives. |

Bandito, I enjoy most of your posts, but stay away from QB evaluations.
EJ is a 4th stringer at best, he sucks...can't hit a guy so wide open it is embarrassing...and his throws are so off target the WR's have alligator arms "trying" to catch them so they don't suffer a career ending injury...he is the absolute worst QB I have seen...and I'm 59...been watching for 48 years.
Jones, eh what do you expect...first real action since preseason...he doesn't even run the practice squad...so I get it...very raw and needs 2 years of grooming before he is ready for prime time. Even with that, he looks more promising than EJ.
That said, I'm sure Whaley thinks EJ was great. - IonSabres
I agree, that's why I said if he wants somewhere around the minimum I'd keep him, otherwise, he can go. Cardale is and always was a long term project, and he's under contract for what? 3 or 4 more seasons if we pick up the option? Backup and 3rd string are irrelevant though. We need a clear cut number one. And unfortunately outside of a trade, I really don't see how we can improve on Tyrod. I don't see Cousins coming here even if he hits free agency. If Tyrod is open to renegotiation, but honestly, why would he be? then I'd be inclined to keep him for another year or two at a vastly reduced rate while either Cardale and/or a new draft pick progresses, but no way in hell is he worth what his contract currently is.
I honestly think, other than getting Dak Prescott lucky, our drought will be old enough to drink in the US before we make the playoffs. I don't see how we can be any better next year with a new coaching staff, likely a new QB in a horrible FA class outside of Cousins, and nobody worth drafting high and many teams looking for a QB; we'll be lucky to finish 6-10. |

Nope, it was Crosby and Malkin. Obviously, dummy. |

I just think the required fixes are more than tweaks. They are going to have to be large changes in philosophy. They are far beyond that fan at this point. |

Fasching still has time and room to grow and I really hope he becomes a good player, I just don't have a clue what his ceiling is. But Murray took a real gamble on this kid and I always wondered why if he saw so much in Hudson, than why didn't he push to take him in Ottawa? The kid fell to the forth round and a year later Murray was ready to give away an NHL ready defenseman and 2 second rounders. Never made much sense to me. - sskkoo1
Of course I hope he becomes a good player too
But I fear guys like Girgensons (who I said we should trade years ago), Ennis & others we might be ok moving have lost their trade value
If we're trying to get a good defenseman,
we'll have to give up something of significance
And I like Bailey over Fasching

Really, he go to arb too or the Deal for Danny cost them from being able to resign him? - Hatboro_Swords
Yes JP went to arbitration and was awarded like $3.5M or something for 3 years? I honestly don't remember the exact numbers, but I think they were in that ballpark I remember a 3. lol |

I have a funny feeling people will be adding Connor Cook to the list of QB's the Bills should've drafted after next weekend.

It would be nice if Ennis could get back to form
But if guys like Nylander, Bailey & Baptiste work out...
I think our forwards will be in pretty decent shape
Goaltending is starting to worry me |

Fasching or Bailey don't exactly look like Matt Tkachuk.
I'm hoping Cal Petersen pans out. The way things are going, we could see him playing for the Sabres before year's end. |

No, they don't...
but I do think Bailey can be a 20goal guy eventually
And I like the way he plays
We'll see about Petersen
Looks good so far, but it's so hard to tell about goalies
I think he'd need a couple seasons in Rochester before he's ready for NHL
He might even go back for his Senior season |

Just was walking my dog and saw a cat out in the cold that seemed like a stray. Put my dog back inside and went to go find it and it was gone. I hope he makes it |

Cats are resilient. It'll find a car or underneath someone's porch or something. Chances are it would've run from you anyway. There was one outside my apartment building a few years ago, and it was crying, and it would stay about 15 feet from me, if I moved forward it moved backward, if I moved backward, it moved forward. I went upstairs to get some water, I didn't want to feed it, I already have 2 cats and didn't want another, but when I came back down it was gone.
Whereabouts do you live? In NT there used to be so, so many cats, if you drove around in the middle of the night during the summer, you used to see their eyes all over the goddamn place reflecting the headlights. But now, suspiciously, there are very few. Wonder if we have a budding serial killer roaming around. |

Sabres should make a move for Shea Theodore, the Ducks keep jerking him around up and down to the AHL despite playing well in Anaheim and getting fairly solid minutes(17:33 avg). |

With them likely trading Fowler, and high probability they lose another defenseman in the expansion draft, idk that they'd move a young guy like Theodore...
I think it's just a numbers game right now & they're counting on him for next year & beyond |

Tkachuk was the 6th overall pick.
That would be quite a feat if either of them looked as good as him, let alone both. |

Good to see the Bills do a nice and thorough search for a head coach, nothing but a mickey mouse organization this is. What a complete joke. |

In the last 3 years the Bills are 1 game under .500.
They are the Patriots compared to the Sabres |
