So he wants the Flyers to "go after" a player they already have the rights to???

I don't think a 3rd + B prospect gets it done, personally. I know that Myers has somewhat devolved into a rich man's Luke Schenn (maybe closer to J-Bo), but I still think that it would have to be at least a 2nd and B+/better prospect, even with the ED coming.
- jmatchett383

Probably. But that's the good thing about the Flyers ED position. They can make discounted offers and if they are turned down, it doesn't matter.

Its an interesting idea, but I think we should leave the defense alone. Let it develop with what we have.

Honestly, if I were to make any move it would be for top 6 forward... Colorado would be my first choice to pair up with as well..

I don't think the Flyers need to take a homerun swing for the defense, but if they can add a nice, veteran, proven 2nd pairing guy, like Myers, I'd entertain it, depending on the cost.

I agree than a top-6 C/LW is a position I'd most like to improve. However, the chances that all of Ghost/Provorov/Myers/Sanheim/Morin all hit and become full-time top-4 guys is, aside from being mathematically incorrect, from from a sure thing. Ig you can get a nice vet like Myers, I'd listen.

Edit: He's also 6'8" and right-handed. I don't think we have anyone who fits both bills.

Maybe they want to get Rinaldo back so he can "go after" Myers and give him some more concussions? All part of the process of weeding out Phil Myers????

Ok, here's a better one. Would you trade Gudas for Trouba?
- PhillySportsGuy

Not if Trouba is still asking for 8 X 8 at the end of his deal

Get him out of Winnipeg and I'd bet you that number drops significantly.

I'd be down with that. Out of curiosity: would you rather protect Gudas or Manning given their contracts and play? Yes, I'm being serious.

Also, what would you give for Myers, keeping in mind they probably don't want another player they'd have to protect unless it's a good upgrade? Would you do a 1st plus prospect like Lyon/NAK/Fazleev?

- jmatchett383

Gudas. that said are teams permitted to throw Vegas a draft pick or player to take or not take a certain player? like can the Flyers say we will flip you a 3rd rounder to take MacDonald or Weise or whomever? or is that prohibited?

I'm pretty sure that's a loophole. Teams can offer a conditional pick to take a certain player. The same can be said if a team wants to keep a specific player.

I'm pretty sure it would take more than a 3rd for them to take MacDonald, though. They do need to reach the cap floor, but that shouldn't be a big issue for them.

Curious if it was addressed or not. being they are going to need to stock a prospect pool it would make sense for them to try to do that. they will have plenty of money to throw at free agents

8x6? I might go for it. But I'm still on the let the prospects get here as soon as they can so I'm not sure we want too many long term contracts for D men.

Flyers should sign former All-Star Game MVP John Scott.
Or Gary Roberts.

Kris Draper almost got the 2007 Ben Eager treatment.
Eager 100% deserved that beating.

I loved Roberts being interviewed after the game. He wanted nothing to do with answering a question about it. Draper has always been a rat.

I also felt sorry for Wendell Clark. Must really be a bummer to pull a hamstring in that game.

The NHL said they will crack down on teams trying to cheat the system, but there is a precedent for teams being compensated for NOT picking a certain player in the expansion draft. NHL GMs are pretty good at using loopholes to their advantage so I am sure some similar deals will happen

Draft picks going each way with a nudge nudge wink wink will get it done. Probably along the lines of LV 3rd round in 2017 for PHI 2nd Round in 2018 along with you take Weise for example. Of course that last part isn't in the trade paperwork.

McPhee has been around the block he knows how to get things past the league offices and still get what he wants. He's probably working the phones with other GMs to see who they are leaving out and working with them on things like ok so you're leaving me Laughton, Raffl, Weise. and MacDonald available. What do we do since I know you don't want me taking Laughton or Raffl?

Draper's always been a weasel.

And Gary Roberts strikes me as "that guy" during a pick up basketball game with rec specs who takes it just a bit too seriously.

It's allowed, but Vegas have no incentive to do other teams favors for cheap. The mock drafts where they take guys like Brown from LA or MacDonald are ludicrous. Getting to the cap floor without taking huge contracts in the ED will be no problem for them.
