Well, if those 3 are a combined 3 for 31, why not try Provorov? - BiggE
Probably because he's never been a regular shootout player before and they have better options in the forwards.
I have no idea what you have seen from Provorov that makes you think he would be good at shootouts. |

Is 2/16 really better than 1/12? Looks like 4 extra chances to me. - SuperSchennBros
12.5% is greater than 8.3%, yes. |

Despite being right you will never win an argument here. My suspicion the next statement you will here will be about the "sample size" |

Nothing personal, but I've seen next to nothing to think Couturier is good at shootouts.
It was a mistake, one that everyone thought even before he shot. When you had Konecny or Brayden as other options that was a varsity move.
Just me. |

Not that I think it would make a huge difference but I would like to see a stat of timeouts taken by a coach. Just to see where the Flyers rank.
For my own wild curiosity. |

On a serious note, we do know official SO record, however, we are not present at SO practice.
Perhaps some data from that helps coaches make their decision (granted they have been practicing against the Flyers goalies, which may be a vicious cycle of doom ) |

Speaking of JvR, Eklund has Philly interested in bringing back JvR. Mixed feelings about this. He doesn't strike me as a force but he's been an unbalanced team offense for so long, I'm interested in seeing what he could bring with G and Jake. He's a good shootout player and I think he's better than anything we currently have on the left side. I'm just not sure if he's a legitimate top line player. - SuperSchennBros
Not the right move. Would rather look for a center. Schenn can play wing, Konecny, Lindblom up next year in all likelihood, etc. Trade for a center we cant bank on Laughton/Cousins |

We easily need depth on the left side, it's not even close. |

Both SO last night were score high glove side on Mase. Glove has been his strong side. I think he has problem with reaction to a release.
Thoughts from goalies here? |

I would rather see those four extra attempts by Schenn and shorten the margin. |

The fact that Hak hasn't really been using anyone consistently except Giroux and Cousins makes me think he's still searching. He does seem to use Simmonds more often now.
I'd like to see him pick an order and stick with it all season. I feel the players would perform better if there was a routine. |

He'd be an upgrade, but, as always, it will come down to what will it take to get him. - BiggE
I wouldn't dangle anymore than Weise, Read, Laughton and my best offer being Raffl. In terms of sweetening the pot, no more than a third or a modest prospect such as Hagg. |

And why not? Pride? What would be so horrible about giving Schenn, Read or other guys chances at the shootout, an area of the games this team isn't great at. |

Schenn is a definitely better shootout option despite being objectively worse at shootouts.
Forget varstiy, some of you guys need to go back to elementary school and do some remedial math. |

again, we do not know what the coaches see/ dont see during SO practice.
Additionally, if Schenn does not score on his additional attempts the margin becomes even larger. |

I don't see it happening. JVR is a streaky player. He's similar to Schenn in that regard. He's better than Schenn, but he's one of those players that when he isn't scoring he's not helping you in any other ways. - PLindbergh31
jvr could do well in Haks system. even guys like simmer are buying into playing defense. |

Nutter doesn't even like Schenn but I'm sure he objectively noticed that Coots has one more successful team with four more attempts. |
