Count me as a member of the buy low for Derrick Pouliot movement. - kingcong39
He's polarizing to Pitt fans from what I have read. Kind of like Pysyk.
Only issue is he's pegged as an Off D man, but is struggling to score.
I would be interested in a Franson for Pouliot swap.
They get a depth NHL D man, we get a prospect |

That just astounds me... There was a season when the Sabres had more speed than a Ferrari. and Ruff insisted on playing the defensive dump and chase game..... It drove me nuts... - rapperray
It's like he is putting a governor on a Ferrari...
He isn't playing to Eichel's strengths and its maddening |

We talked about this yesterday after the Doug Whaley disaster.
Pegula wanted to make a splash and get a big named coach and after missing out on Babcock he went after the next biggest name instead of getting the right guy for the job.
I would really like to see Gallant here before the season is over. The more and more this plays out the more I feel Bylsma was a Pegula hire and not a Murray hire.
Both GM's Whaley and Murray are first time GM's and I don't think they have the experience to fall back on to push back to their bosses.
It makes me think the Pegulas want yes men instead of the right men to do the job. |

Because we have a coach that scored at a .14 pts per game pace and he doesn't want Eichel or anyone else showing him up. |

Cut Taylor sign Blake Bortles win Fantasy League
Make profit - GERBE!!!75PTS
Here's a better idea...
Draft a better QB in the first place.
I won my fantasy league for the second year in a row. My overall record was 14-1. |

As long as he helps drive offensive play, and they get another D man who is actually a point producer, it's OK if he does not produce a ton of points.
Is he worth the 3rd round pick this year they got from Washington, assuming they get a 3rd for Franson and perhaps even more for Kulikov by the trade deadline? |

Whaley, absolutely, but Murray? No way.
I don't see him as a yes man even a little bit. I think he's done every move he's wanted to with little push back from the owner outside of the coach. |

Shouldn't the GM be able to hire the coach of the team he envisions?
I would be willing to bet the system that's being played isn't the system he envisioned for his team.
That's handcuffing him right there. |

What I don't know, and I am not sure who would know, is if Murray had the coaching position down to two candidates that were nearly equal in Bylsma and somebody else.
If that is the case, then he had say in who the coach was.
I have a difficult time believing Murray gave Pegula his choice and Pegula came back and said we are not going that direction, instead we are hiring Bylsma, and Murray had no say.
Then again, I guess I wouldn't put it past Murray to say OK, fine, bring on Bylsma and watch the team be bad. That will show Pegula I know what I am doing and bonus, we will get another high draft pick which would really help haha |

they should draft a qb in every draft (in first 4 rounds) til they find an answer
once they have their answer, they should still draft one every year, til they have a plan B
it's insane the way this team ignored this position, and just because taylor is the best we got, doesn't mean they need to overpay to keep blah |

I don't know. It makes me wonder. Either Bylsma sold Murray a load of crap in his interview, or Murray wasn't given a choice.
Murray specifically said in an interview I heard on WGR after the coaching search was concluded that they wanted a coach that would drive possession and not one that was going to employ a dump and chase system. Murray knew the style of team he was putting together wasn't one that would do well in a dump and chase system. |

AJ Green, D. Thomas, Hilton were my main WRs
Jimmy Graham at TE.

Some positives we must not forget:
Gionta, Franson, Kulikov and McCormick all have expiring contracts that equal 13.4M. Some of that we have to keep for Jack/Samson but not all of it seeing as Expansion should raise the cap a bit and we lose Gorges 3.9M next year as well.
Nick Baptiste is 5th in the AHL in goals, Bailey is 13th. Nylander is leading all WJC shooters in points tallying 11 in 5 games. Asplund is 9th with 7 in 5.
The Sabres currently hold their 1st rounder, 2 seconds and 2 thirds in the upcoming draft.
Ennis is skating again.
Cliff Pu has 54pts in 33g, good for 5th in the OHL in scoring.
Casey Fitzgerald made the US WJC Team and played a very solid tourney.
Guhle looked right at home in a top4 role during his emergency recall.
Jack has 12 pts in 15 games. At this pace he would break 65 pts in a 82 game season. A pace that would have put him in the top25 last year, ahead of Stamkos, Getzlaf and Malkin.
Rasmus is 5th in the league for scoring by a defenseman with 25p in 36g and 7th in hits with 102. When being partnered with Jake McCabe even some of his "fancy stats" have went positive.
We all know there's a lot of bad right now, but things aren't as bad as they may seem sometime. I still think we are on the rise. These are some of the reasons why. Happy New Year folks. By the end of this one methinks we'll be watching some very competitive hockey again. |
