And that is relevant to Buffalo why?
Lehner's stats in Buffalo is what matters not Lehner's stats in Ottawa
- Stripes77
I was going to say the same thing.
Don't see how what happened on another team is relevant in any way to what he's done here.
Especially since the NHL is very much a "what have you done for me lately" kind of league. |

they should draft a qb in every draft (in first 4 rounds) til they find an answer
once they have their answer, they should still draft one every year, til they have a plan B
it's insane the way this team ignored this position, and just because taylor is the best we got, doesn't mean they need to overpay to keep blah - homiedclown
That's the rub Homie... Even with his contract he would not be overpaid... His salary would be in the bottom half of the league for starting QB's... And might I add... THERE ARE NO JIM KELLY'S OUT THERE TO BE DRAFTED OR TRADED FOR... Sorry hit the caps button... My bad... |

It's all about that first round pick he gave up...
If it was a second rounder and the first went to Colorado for O'Reilly would it be the same heat?
This is why I think Murray made that trade...Lehner's age, his contract status and the fact that he is a RFA and not a UFA.
Lehner's stats here are fine. Let's wait and see how his season ends up and what sort of contract he gets next. If it's less than $4 million a season and Lehner is the starter for the next 5 years and does well the trade was worth it. |

I am still on the keep Taylor wagon.
There is not a better option out there at this point. Draft a QB this draft in rounds 3 or 4 and then draft one in rounds 1 or 2 the year after.
If Lynn is the guy to take over I wouldn't see why he wouldn't want the QB that got him in this position from RB coach to OC to HC in 2 years...Especially since Lynn has said he would like to keep working with Taylor... |

Shouldn't the GM be able to hire the coach of the team he envisions?
I would be willing to bet the system that's being played isn't the system he envisioned for his team.
That's handcuffing him right there. - Stripes77
fix the d. we cant be considered any kind of threat if our 5 on 5 is this bad. its not all system and playing gorges/grant/gionta. |

I get people complaining about Gorges and Grant. Gionta has actually had a very solid year. I'm not sure what else people are expecting from him. He's 5th on the team in scoring and plays on the 3rd line.
And, even though he's 37, he still has wheels. |

The post was about Miller. Miller was a workhorse who never had bad years like Lehner did. He also had years of .923 Sv% and .929 Sv%.
The "He only had 2/3 of a good year here" IS IDIOTIC

You mean like his 2 years of a .923 and .929 SV %'s?
Still trying to find Miller's sub .900 Sv% like Lehner had in Ottawa - sbroads24
http://www.hockeydb.com/i...ts/pdisplay.php?pid=45065
aside from 2/3 of his vezina season
a typical miller year was .915 save % and a 2.5 to 2.6 gaa, and he was in the 15 to 20 range against his peers
not sure why this is hard to accept, he was an average goalie
and unlike lehner, he cried |

I'll say it right now, I was a HUGE Miller fan.
I'm also a Lehner fan. I don't see what difference it makes that Lehner had some rough times in Ottawa. His sv% here is over a .920. I'm not sure why what he did in Ottawa matters to us right now? He's clearly performing much better than that. And did so last year on a wonky ankle.

I say 10 mins of 3 on 3 then go to a shootout. - Stripes77
I was thinking about this the other night, but what if the NHL dropped the point system altogether and went based upon straight winning percentage? It's the only one of the four major sports that doesn't do this. I don't know if it's plausible considering that hockey may have more games ending tied in regulation than the other 3 combined, but it would still be interesting to see if there was a change in in-game philosophy for a system that rewards winning only instead of a tie or regulation tie. |

The whole regulation OT win wouldn't matter then...
Go to a 3 point system
3 points for a regulation or OT win
2 points for a shootout win
1 point for a shootout loss |

Miller didn't cost a first round pick...Colin White is potentially going to be good...Ummmm I think that covers it for him...
I will say it again, Lehner's play has not been the issue |

What if you went to 3 on 3 for 10 minutes and put the tie back in play? The tie doesn't really help you in a winning percentage format. |
