Of course he was. Who cares? What is he supposed to do? Oppose the billionaire owner keeping him employed?
I care about results. The other sports team here is by far the bigger mess. - sbroads24
You really think the Sabres are more of a mess than that??
How is a GM of a football team going to sit up there and either lie his a$$ off or really not have any say if his coach gets fired or not and expect him to lead the next coaching search? Let alone find a replacement for Taylor, find 2 WR's, one starting CB, one starting safety, two depth linebackers, 2 depth safeties, a starting left tackle, and conduct a draft??? |

That will be next year with Jones or whomever they get to replace Taylor at QB
Kyle Williams is going to retire.
New coaching staff, new defensive scheme and an extremely tough schedule
3-13 or 4-12 next year |

Bigger mess but i think they will be easier to fix (not sure that makes sense but yea ) |

And if we fired Whaley, we'd go 10-6?
We sucked because Rex's D sucked, and the offense couldn't pull through In a few games.
Hardly a disaster. |

The D was more of a mess then Tyrod, not that Tyrod gets a pass. |

how can you say that?...
the bills are where the sabres were post-drury-briere/pre-tank--a revolving door of mediocrity...
the sabres were stripped down to nothing less than two full seasons ago and last year, their first year with a new team, they finished not much worse than where the bills finished |

Aaron Williams gone (the real back bone of that D and when it started collapsing was after he got hurt)
Kyle Williams gone
Two really important vets on that side of the ball
Robert Woods is leaving
Tyrod Taylor is as good as gone
Sammy Watkins is having another foot surgery
I have zero faith in Doug Whaley finding the right coach, and after that poop show who in their right mind would pick Buffalo over any other place to coach? |

tyrod either couldn't see over the linemen in front of him or had no balls to throw where his receivers could make the most out of a pass--over the middle...
or, more than likely, both |

Easily. The Bills don't have a franchise QB, and are mediocre. Which means there is a decent amount of talent here to go 8-8, or 7-9.
The Sabres have the guy, and have failed at building around him to this point, have spent a ton of cap, and wasted a ton of lottery tickets. |

Until the Miami game...seriously Clay was used in the middle of the field a ton in the Miami game.

im not big into football so i cant say with any certainty but i dont recall the bills ever stripping it down and having a boatload of assets etc. etc. (im not sure you can even do that in the nfl lol)
All i know is the sabres tore it down, had a poop ton of assets and years later are still bad despite having a franchise guy. |

The major difference between the Bills and Sabres is that the Bills are in "win now" mode, and are, if they lose Tyrod, very (frank)ing far from winning. I am much more discouraged about the next few years for the Bills than I am for the Sabres. For one the playoff bar is a lot higher in the NFL, especially in this (frank)ing division, can we move to the AFC South? Or maybe switch New England and Cleveland. That could work too. I said it last night; that if Tyrod is gone I think this drought will be old enough to drink in the US before it ends. |

He's at his best when they roll him out. For some crazy reason they stopped doing that. He has more than enough arm to get the ball all the way across the field across his body if he has to. |

Eh, not so sure of that. Sabres have their core and a lot of deadweight, most of that goes away shortly. #1 D, 1st and 2nd Centers, 2 good Wingers and 1 highly touted Winger in the minors. They need 1 more for their Top 6. Much more to be done, but a lot of Cap money coming to go FA shopping. Just need to hit on them to be sure.
Bills, no Franchise QB, one half of a WR, O line that can't protect the QB, and there D backfield is a complete mess, some aged key players like K Williams and McCoy. Plus their Cap position isn't terrific either. On top of that their front office is a complete disaster. If they don't retain Tyrod they are really screwed...and that is going to eat up space they don't really have. At best, they go around even again next season. |

And when Pegula realizes it doesn't work he will rebuild, which is probably what's in motion now.
If this team was just striving for mediocrity, it wouldn't even be a debate. Rex would be here and Tyrod would stay.

Because that works in football all the time...look at Cleveland they've been at it for a few seasons and had 1 freaking win this year and still don't have a QB.
Whaley said it right there he believes they are close... |

Whaley "We believe we are close"
Murray "It doesn't take 5 years to be competitive"
Only one of them is a "liar" other is just a straight shooter. |
