What's amazing is Murray drafted Puempel and yet he passed over him when he went on waivers.
- mhp

Concussion problems? Just read he is out again with another concussion.

And now, this

No, I don't care that the Sabres didn't claim Rattie. Doesn't solve the speed issue. 4 goals in 30 NHL games. Not the prospect he once was.

Apparently, "He's better than Grant" is the scripted response for some when Buffalo doesn't claim every single scrub that becomes available.

Ah-hmm... Media: St. Louis recently placed Ty Rattie on waivers and you elected not to pick him up, can you tell us your thoughts on that, the reasoning behind it?

The only answer that is acceptable, phrase it however you wish, Murray.

Murray: Because we're tanking and we thought Ty may help us win some games.

I'm just curious if he ever really got a chance to.
He has played very little.
I would have liked to see it.

I know this city is all about proving your worth. Maybe he didn't. Just another guy to get (frank)ing irritated about in three games

Not really all that great of a list, if you ask me.

Recchi is the one that actually stands out to me, and that would have been quite some time ago anyway.

Fasching and Baptise arn't even here
Ennis is hurt and has been a mess.

Again, there was nothing to lose by claiming him and giving him a tryout. If he doesn't work, you waive him.

It didnt happen, all well.

- ImThatGuy

1,000% agree. Baptiste isn't here and I don't get why. Fasching hasn't shown anything while here to make me believe he's ready for a permanent roll in the NHL and to boot he's yet to play in Rochester because of a groin injury. When he eventually comes back if he shows in a few weeks time he can play down there and dominate maybe he'll get the call. Otherwise his progression looks bleak for being here this year. Ennis hasn't been healthy in two years and when healthy looks more shot then Hecht did when he came back here.. That's not even mentioning the talent-less duo of Deslauries and Grant

In all seriousness, though, this is why unknowns playing well in the preseason is one of the most dangerous things that can happen to your team.

Wow....

Really?

Do you have a crystal ball that tells you Rattie is going to light it up the rest of the season?

As long as he's on the 4th line and PK, I DGAF if he's on the roster. Sure, it would be nice to have someone else, but if they have him and 44 on the active roster, the 4th line is never going to produce anyways.

Again, not saying claiming Rattie wouldn't have benefitted at all or anything, just saying it's crazy to me to see people rage over a waiver claim not made.

My favorite is when the guy goes completely unclaimed and people are still moaning about it. The 28 other teams in the league also felt that guy wasn't good enough for one of their roster spots, why is it such a big deal?

True. But you still basically solidified my point that guys who are claimed on waivers most typically don't make a huge difference to the team that claimed them. It's not that it can't happen, but it's most likely not going to.

I'm sure Dan Bylsma will hold Tim Murray back from making this claim as well.

Byslma is a coach.... he has NO say in what happens in Buffalo sports.

This decision and all future decisions are solely on Brandon and Terry.

Even though Brandon has no input on anything other than business according to Whaley(the guy who doesn't know what he does for the organization)

Murray should take a look. He's scored 8, 10 and 8 goals last 3 seasons for Sharks, probably on 3rd/4th line duty.

Did anyone ask Whaley what he thinks his responsibilities are.

"I'm not privy to that"
