I gave up after season 4 - dadeadhead
Season 1 and 2 were among the best of anything I've ever seen. That is also where the book ended. The series sucked after that (gave up midway through season 3) |

But why not add another guy (for free) with NHL potential & scoring ability? - jdfitz77
I don't see him as a goal scorer or a play maker
IMO his speed is below average
better off IMO with foligno on the third line

That's where I mostly quit. My wife stuck with it for a couple more seasons. I tuned in for much of Season 4 when she watched. It was excellent and on par with the first two seasons. |

If Murray truly cares about making a run at the playoffs this year without giving up the farm he needs to make a few essential moves IMO.
If you don't want to pick up or trade for a 4th line center then call up COR for the time being. He's better than Grant. I don't know if he can kill penalties but our PK is dead last in the league anyway so what difference does it make?
I'd also bring in Nieto on waivers and park Deslauries ass in the press box
On defense I'd keep Fedun up here. If Gorges comes back then put Fedun on the right side next to him and put Falk back down in Rochester. You need to ice your best top six. No idea what's going on with Kulikov and frankly I'm done with that guy. At best we can shut him down till all star break, let him fully heal and hope he shows some glimpses of his old play so we can get an asset off of him at deadline. We desperately need a LW to play with Eichel but since the only guys who could come up right now and do that (Baptiste) is a RW and Nylander likely isn't ready - we're stuck with a 3rd liner on the top line.
That would set up the roster to look like this while we wait for O'Riley to come back.
Foligno (Blah) Eichel Okposo
Kane Reinhart Bailey
Carrier Girgensons Gionta
Nieto COR Moulson
McCabe Risto
Fedun Fransn
Gorges Bogosian |

From last blog
In both players career highs Foligno played three more games as well. Let's say he gets 2 points in those 4 games. That's still 6 points more for a guy who has always been a bottom six player because he plays on a good team. And I'm not even saying he's better than Foligno. He doesn't have to be. He just has to be better than Deslauries and Carrier at LW. And he clearly is - bluengold12
You're seriously splitting hairs over this?
I don't know much about Nieto, so I can't fully compare the two, but Foligno also brings a pretty phyiscal presence to the lineup.
And why does he "have to be better" than Carrier? Carrier is younger and just getting his feet wet in the NHL still. I think he's played well, especially since he's been asked to play at a level higher than he probably should be (and by that I mean his time on the 1st line).
I'm not saying that I'd be mad if they claimed Nieto, because I don't know enough about him and feel that there is room for improvement here. I just don't get why you're whipping on Foligno who is playing the best hockey of his career and is doing it very effectively. |

Foligno isn't on our 3rd line though. He's on our top line. And that's the problem. |

Any of the 3 it's a good day
But if Nico keeps up this pace he will go first overall |

You're missing the point. It's not a knock on Foligno as much as a knock on why you and others don't see the need to pick up Nieto. I provided stats that show he's been more successful and younger than Foligno in his career. I like Carrier. He'd be a perfect 4th liner with Nieto taking the 3rd line LW spot in the current situation we're left with. Foligno is doing all he can but in cold reality he's nothing more than a 3rd line LW. Nieto at least has a scoring touch and speed to play with Eichel if he shows he can play well in 3rd line duty to start here. Deslauries there's zero argument why he should still be playing every game here. Guy just doesn't have it. |

Okposo? Guys never played LW. Kind of difficult to ask a vet to switch positions like that. Even if he did - with ROR out for at least three more weeks who would be playing in top six at RW? |

Did you miss the part where I say there's room for improvement and wouldn't be mad if they claimed him?
I also said I don't know enough about him to care too much either way.
Here's my concern - if he's on waivers from a team that is clearly outperforming us, why isn't he finding any kind of success this year on a roster that based on standings, is more talented than we are? If he can't find success there, why would it be different here?

Because he's not getting the opportunity to get good ice time and while he may not be a great player enough to stick on a far better team in San Jose. He would be good enough to play here on our weak LW depth of a roster |

No. I could be mistaken but I believe Okposo has never played LW here. |

Look at Columbus. There 4th line is loaded. Deslauries should be in Rochester. COR I don't have an issue with him or Schneider on the 4th line. But there should be a requirement. You don't score 1 goal by mid season you're off the team. See ya Grant. |

I think the general idea is that there are other good players ahead of him on the depth chart, so he doesn't get an opportunity there. Here, there would not be better players ahead of him on the depth chart, so he would get the opportunity here that he cannot get there.
I know the former is correct, but I don't know if the latter is correct. |
