impressed with tyson at wjc?? kinda reminds me of granlund but much worse
not tryin to poke just honest opinion

OH yeah not trying to poke the bear. Granlund but worse, get the (frank) out of here with those sort of comments, BS you arent trying to stir stuff up

Jost is pretty damn good, he started off super impressive and as soon as he was put on Stromes line, he got side saddled. Strome isnt very good and he maroon'd his line by him trying to be Mario Lemieux out there doing everything himself.

I like Jost is a more offensive ROR in the making. Just all heart, can play anywhere, offensive and defensive ability..nothing flashing just does it all with hard work with a better shot.

Strome really made me mad that tourny...he looked like a bust in the making trying to dominate when he really couldnt naturally do it.

Honestly man there is no pleasing you. All you look at is the negativity in a vacuum and dont look at the whole of things. Ignore all positive things just so you can poop on one incident. Awesome work

So you are describing Jost;s whole season to this point bc of 4-5 games after being put on a line with Strome? I guess Im wrong along with 99% of hockey experts, writers, etc who have been praising Josts season.

But keep on doing you my man

Do you think Jost's play at the WJC, changes the thought process for the Avalanche. I agree with your previous comment about Jost looking like a more offensive ROR. That being said, the biggest bargaining chip that the Avalanche have is Duchene. Would a top three group of centers of Mackinnon, Jost and Compher or Soderberg in 2017-2018 be plausible? Certainly there would be some growing pains with this group but moving Duchene in a 3 for 1 swap would certainly expedite the reload and avoid a rebuild. Duchene seems to be the only big ticket player that could potentially generate a multiple player return. In addition to the salary attrition of expiring contracts at the end of season, the Avalanche could expose another big contract in the expansion draft and have $20 million available in cap space. Couple that with a top 2 or 3 draft pick overall in the 2017 draft and this franchise could be righted rather quickly. While the season has obviously been a failure what a fascinating time to be involved in personnel decisions.

One final thought on an extrication plan for the Avalanche. In order to turn this thing around they need to leverage every tool at their disposal to acquire assets. One thing I would like to see Colorado do is when they have trade discussions regarding Iginlia and Beauchemin is offer to retain salary. I believe under the CBA a team can retain up to 50% of a contract, not to exceed 15% of their salary requirements as a team. In exchange for retaining salary, the Avalanche can request better compensation in return. You see this move done in baseball and I think it would allow Colorado to trade with more playoff bound teams who may be cap strapped. Playoff teams may be willing to pay for Iginlia's leadership or Beauchemin's playoff experience if the price is a non-roster prospect. That's why it is important not to burn years off of ELC's for Greer, Compher and others this year because Colorado could retain salary and use it as a bargaining chip in trades as they clear the roster of older players.
The expansion draft will be a positive to Colorado since they can expose a hefty contract and shed more payroll, positioning themselves for free agency in 2017 and 2018.

Why should I be pleased about Jost? He isn't anything like what O'reily was.
Yeah he works hard but that's about it. I doubt he turns into a top 6 for the avs.

Honest question, what do you like about this team/org currently
There seems like there isnt one thing you actually find positive about.

Not one player, prospect are all garbage to you unless you can elaborate on this for me

also FWIW...in case you think they have should have moved duchene instead of ROR. Which I assume you do

Duchene has 26 take aways and a 60.3 fow%...24 pts, 18 are 5v5
ROR has 21 take aways and a 57.0 fow%....20pts, 8 are 5v5

Do we even watch the same sport? I have not the slightest clue what you are watching. It's not hockey though. You should also probably change that handle to show Buffalo Sabres as well.

Well the team is in last place so there really isn't much to like about them is there.
Prospects may or may not end up playing for Colorado.
I would have traded Landy over ROR.

Damn, Coga. What's with this dude? I'm not even an Avs fan and I see bright spots for you guys. Lot of good kids in the pipes. I bash on my Isles a lot, but it's mostly the crappy coaching.

Jost is a hard working player who battles along the boards. His offensive game is weak because he doesn't have the physical strength and get out muscled by bigger players as we saw in the gold medal game. His defensive game is lacking.

ROR is a defensive responsible player with offensive upside and good leadership qualities.
