You should care
You're asking a lot in your own zone especially if u want a winger to take on the defensive responsibilities that a center normally had

D-lo is fine as the 13th forward
I'd rather have him sitting than a guy who could have valuable playing time in Rochester

But also consider...
they might want some of these young guys playing together in Rochester
If we don't have a shot at the playoffs & Rochester does,
It's probably better for them to be a part of that then playing meaningless games up here with the Sabres

We used to see ...our guys would get possession in our zone and feed the forwards who are already streaking up the ice . Now they try and set up and in turn lets the opposition set up too. Doesn't work.

Gotta find the right spots for them though
Throwing 3 speedy wingers on a 4th line for 8-10min doesn't make a whole lotta sense to me

Have you ever watched former Sabre D-man Mike Weber play? His play ranged from average to brutal with most of the time closer to the latter. Last year the Capitals gave up a 3rd for him. Franson is definitely better than Weber. Teams are always looking to get bigger and add depth with defencemen at the TDL. Don't be surprised when you see Franson go for at least a 4th, likely a 3rd and maybe even a second. Only two years ago, the Preds gave the Leafs a 1st for him.

A 3rd is certainly far from a sure thing
If we're out of the playoffs & not planning to re-sign Franson (or whoever)...
Why not trade him for whatever we can get?

Obviously some of these guys could be gone for one reason or another
and u could certainly shuffle many of these guys around to different lines & even different positions in some cases
But this is a basic look at what we could be seeing next year
