Its a long shot i get it, goalies are very very hard to predict and investing your future in one who was a 5th rounder with 0 gp in the nhl is on the surface pure idiocy.

Looking at all of Lehner's numbers (sans trade) what i see is a good goalie capable of making a big save here and there. However, I don't see a goalie who can steal games. From what i have seen (admittedly not a ton) and read (who can you trust right?) Petersen has the makeup to be the kind of goalie who can steal games.

I think Gerbe shares a similar view to me in that if your Defense is good to great, the goaltending will look good by extension. His idea to let Lehner just walk or something is nuts but I think what hes getting at is that hes not so valuable in that if we moved on from him we'd be in trouble. In fact if we didn't pay a huge price for him would there be as much of an issue moving on from him? The numbers are good, the numbers of quite a few FA goalies have been pretty good. And again if i had to guess id say its because of the D core in front of them

they are only scoring 2.26 goals per game.. how do you expect them to with that.

no one said he is perfect. just saying he isn't the problem. you are making him sound like we would be better hiring the equipment manager to be the goalie

every game.. he lets in the first three shots the team is demoralized because he sucks and they stop playing and everyone just lays down in front of the net so they only lose 3-0

hmm...thats actually a tough one. I can only recall the absolute poop show against the isles, we were never down by 3 against boston were we?

Not a fan of those (other than the writing on the front). The geometric BS in the names and numbers (I think it was both? Could be wrong, but point stands...) were god awful

I probably should have disclosed that the only thing I really liked about those, was the color. If they could take that color and use it on our current design, I'd be pretty happy. Though, I agree with just about everyone, the grey under the armpits needs to go.

Thats fair, but if you did believe Petersen had that upside i assume your view would be different?

Thats where im at with it. I think Petersen could be the real deal and if they make big improvements to the D-core im not really concerned with who's in net short term because their numbers will look more or less the same(probably even better with a better defence in front of them).

Admittedly it's kind of easy to see the last time it happened...but the rhetoric is getting ridiculous now...

Since Eichel's been back, the team has been scoring more (2.77 per game) and likely playing a little bit more open-throttle (not to mention the CONSTANT complaining on these threads about at least half of the d-corp).

Prior to Eichel they were scoring 1.85 goals per game
