15-2-5, but who's counting?

- stashu

Are you trying to say Lehner is not the problem? SIr, you can get the he'll out of here with that attitude.

I was trying to do it off of memory from the stat I saw the other day. I was pretty darn close!
- Stripes77

Damn dude, if it was memory from some broadcast, that's pretty good.

I had a post all written up earlier and cancelled it showing the goal support for both goaltenders. Nilsson gets 3+ scored in half his starts and Lehner gets it somewhere around 37% I think it was? I forget now, but a lower percentage for sure

I wasn't upset either, Nilsson was doing fairly well in Edmonton before he was traded to St. Louis.

The other thing people are forgetting or just not taking into account is the other goalies traded that day (or few days)

Jones
Lehner
Lack
Talbot

Out of those four, the only one really doing better is Jones, and he cost more than what we gave up to acquire Lehner. Many teams needed a goalie, it was a sellers market.

- Mentalorgasm5

We'd also heard that Ottawa had already received an offer of a first rounder for Lenner so getting anybody with a pedigree of any kind was pricey.

The hit

- GERBE!!!75PTS

Umm, that would be "Jake's HIT of the game" not head.

And the game was tied 3-3 at that point.

It was a bad joke saying Jake's head was the hit

But anyways

Now, before the poop storm starts, I would have taken a starting goalie like Lehner over Pysyk and that's why I listed him. He wasn't the 21st overall difference maker that some think the Sabres would have gotten was my point.

Jones is also doing it on a very very good team all around...yet here we are banging our heads off the wall talking about a goalie when its pretty obvious the team around said goalie isn't where it needs to be.
- Stripes77

The hammer and the nail just connected with this point.

It would be one thing if Lehner came here and has Eddie Lacks numbers, but he is actually playing well. People also seem to forgot Nilsson was doing well as a back up in Edmonton, but when he was traded to St. Louis to start when Allen and Elliot where hurt, his numbers noise dived.

Nilsson is a nice back up, and Lehner hasn't down anything to warrant a demotion.

correct

Like I said before, I don't think he actually watches the games.

I don't think he goes to class very often either. Or if he does, maybe he should consider a different school, because the one he's going to is failing him miserably.

Corey Schneider was 27 years old and traded for the 9th pick overall (not a deep draft we know) he was originally a 26th overall selection in the 2004 draft which was so so as well.

He is being paid $6 million a season.

He is having a terrible year statistically

But we are complaining about the 21st pick that is years away from making it to the NHL because he could be really good (he could also flame out)

My memory is pretty good when it's hockey related...anything else just forget it!

It's pretty simple the Sabres need to score at least 2 to win. Score 2 and they should at least get 1 point. (there is that one game they didn't)

Start with a good showing in Philly and keep going. The blue line needs to be addressed!

I wouldn't flying West is a piece of cake. Getting home from Germany only 2 hours after you left? Awesome. Obviously it was like an 8 hour trek, but time zones are a wonderful thing.

It was him or Colin White says you. Who knows what Murray was thinking. So Ottawa took White that's who I am using here.

They better let his ass go Or trade him

I definitely don't want to lose Cal

- GERBE!!!75PTS

I like Cal as a solid prospect but what exactly has he done in the pros? NOTHING. At this time, he is a good goalie prospect, nothing more, nothing less. Do you know how many good goalie prospects there are every year that amount to nothing in the NHL. LOTS!

Example 1 - Justin Pogge was drafted in the 3rd round by the Leafs a few years ago. He backstopped the 2006 Cdn junior team to a gold medal in Vancouver. In that tournament, his save % was .952 with 2 shut outs and a GAA of 1.0. Not bad! I can still remember all of my Leaf buddies saying that Pogge was the next Johnny Bauer. Unfortunately Pogge never made it. I see that he is now playing somewhere in Europe.

Example 2 - Zach Fucale - recent high draft pick for the Canadians. He was the stud goal-tender on the Halifax junior team that you like to talk so much about. Presently he has a .901 save percentage in the ECHL.

As of right now, Lehner is in the top 15 in the NHL. Not fantastic but pretty darn good. We all (myself included) need to get over the 1st round pick that Murray gave up for him and focus on more pressing needs like solidifying our D and Top 6 forwards.

End of rant.
