FYI boys I'm doing some ROR trolling with my boy -JCDC- who has decided to stop by the Avs thread again.
I gotta fight fire with fire so dont hate me for the hot takes I'm about to start - DDM-Coga

Made some additions
Also,
A lot of those guys can play multiple positions - jdfitz77
Ennis is likely gone in three years time, Girgensons and Larsson I guess maybe there's a chance one of the two will be here but I wouldn't count on it. I also view Asplund's ceiling as much higher than where Larsson will ever be. |

but you just know they'll play out of it. 5 game win streak in april or something will convince everyone that we're aces and just an overrated soon to be ufa d-man away from really contending
Edit: cost them Laine last year - Sabresfan-365

I haven't had a Wegmans sub in a long time. I just don't like that much meat on a sub. Plus, if I'm going to have a sub, it's going to be from Mike's. - Wetbandit1
I was reading someone's post who tagged the owner on Facebook today and laughed as they posted about the "good ol days". I laugh because when I worked there our bunch of people at the time always enjoyed talking about the good ol days. That was the latter 90s for us. |

Even if they were 2 or 3 years away have we learned nothing over the last few years? Rushing it has led us where exactly?
This is what took leafs management forever to figure out. Unless you hit it big on all your rush moves you will wind up rushing to mediocrity again and again.
I dont think it will take 2 or 3 years for Liljegren to be an impact player but even if it did, ill gladly wait 2 or 3 years for a top pairing d-man than overpay for Cam Fowler. - Sabresfan-365
If they don't "rush it", do they ever go for O'Reilly? Is having him for 8 years worth the other perceived losses the team has suffered in the trades that the negative posts all call out?
He's not a huge points guy, but I'd hope most can agree that he's worth more to the team than just what gets seen on a stat sheet. |

Idk about Asplund
He's supposedly a better scorer than Larsson...
But we don't know if that'll translate & Larsson is already effective at the NHL level, so we'll just have to wait & see
I also wouldn't have Guhle ahead of McCabe for basically the same reasons
Just bc these guys might have higher ceilings,
Doesn't mean they'll ever get there |

What if not having O'Reilly meant drafting Matthews or Laine?
It's all speculation but there is chance that's the case |

We could say that every year
At some point, it's gotta be about trying to win...
not trying to collect the most talented prospect |

I should've gone there. As I suspected I regretted the nuggets after I ate about 3 of them. I do this 3ish times a year. I'm not entirely sure why. |

What's to say that McCabe (especially) & Larsson aren't gonna continue to get better? They're both young still |

Honestly? no I dont believe that because as of right now it has us below a team that didnt rush and started later than we did.
Id trade ROR for Matthew Tkachuk, Colin White, Jack Roslovic, a poop ton of cap space and lastly no bogosian. |

At some point yes, not 6 months before we land the guy we're trying to build around. And then a few hours before we've still drafted the guy we're building around. And then 30 seconds after (thats literally the timeline ) |

McCabes defensive game will never be that of a top pairing defenceman IMO. I think maybe he can max out as an above average 2nd pair guy. Guhle has the ability to be the top guy I believe.
Larsson for the longest time couldn't score at all. He is probably an above average 4th line center on a cup team. Asplund could be a very good 3rd line center. |

You mean ROR and Kane. As Bogosian was part of Kane trade. That would mean you'd still have Myers and Armia and Lemiuex. As well as Compher and Zadorov |

He singled out ROR specifically though. I was trying to say that the addition of ROR doesn't offset the rush to mediocrity. |
