Clean hit with unfortunate consequences. Sucks for the Jets and Laine (especially as he was having a great year!!). Jets coach even said he had no problem with the hit.

Clean or dirty, anyone else pick up on how not only in these two examples, but other big Hits of Jake's that he leads with his head? Effectively head butting his opponent, as opposed to leading with his shoulder which would still remove the player from the play, but would save both Jake and his target from injury.
Although the hits were "clean", they're also dangerous for both parties. |

Really bad pinch on the 2 on 1, stood around confused on the Stafford goal; just looked lost for the most part really.
And being paired with Risto - who was brain farting all over the place - made it even worse.
I'm glad they pulled it off, but pretty surprised, frankly. Its a microcosm of the season in a way.

Any talk whether Fitzgerald could make the big club next year? |

Nope but they cheered when he was helped off the ice . - cabin
Watch the replay of the game, as soon as the hit was shown and Laine was still out of it on the ice the fans went crazy. |

In both cases, the opponents heads were also leaning forward. It's pretty unavoidable unless mccabe threw his head back |

There were several people from this site that were at the game and they all said it wasn't shown on the ice again.
They cheered when McCabe went to the room after the scrum but I don't think they showed the hit again at the arena.
The Sabres seemed to have learned from the John Scott/ Loui Ericksson hit a few years back. |

It was a " hockey play " but what arena would not cheer for a hit like that ? it wasn't a dirty hit and I would say that if it was Eichel as well. Fans cheer for hits like that. |

I still can't believe they suspended McCabe for the Paille hit. That was some serious Boston favoritism there. |

And if it was the opposite, say Meyers on Eichel, you all would've sat there silently contemplating? Ooooooooo kay then.

Not to mention that physics plays a role. Laine gets hit his head lurches forward just as McCabe hits him, they butt heads after the initial contact |

I can understand the concern for Patricks health but what the hell are the fans to do, boo McCabe? If byflugian (sp) laid out Eichel like that in Winnepeg the arena would go nuts, not because Eichel would be hurt, but because that kind of play is exciting. Doubt people were cheering that Laine was hurt just liked the hit by McCabe.
Should they stop cheering for goals because the other goalie feels bad he let one in? |
