The shootout debacle is just as much of an issue with our shooters though so it's not fair to heap the blame on the goaltenders.

Even if Lehner had stopped something, it's still pretty unlikely that we get the W. In the 3 shootouts Lehner has been a part of, he's allowed 6 goals on 6 shots. In those same shootouts, our guys have scored 0 goals on 6 shots.

Looking at his adv stats, it looks as though shattenkirk has become the #4(FOUR?! ) option in st louis


He's getting about 2 1/2 minutes less ice time than last year, less 5v5 time and far more offensive (sheltered) minutes/zone starts than before. You could credit some of this to the rise of parayko but it certainly reads like hitchcock trusts him less cause bouwmeester is getting these minutes too.

Something to consider since no doubt he'd want at least 7 mil.

Easily Fedun, which is actually kind of funny. You know, I'd say Franson was our 4th best, followed by either Falk or Bogo. Which isn't that funny.

Different systems work for different players. Just adding a counterpoint here.

Shats is still a high quality Dman who could easily pair in the top 4 here. Let's not pretend Bo is a better Dman than Shats. Cause that is never true. All of his numbers suggests he's a more useful Dman in both zones than Bo. He's not a 7M dman. But if we paid him Bogo's salary, I wouldn't flinch.

That's why that chart Stripes posted earlier was so surprising to me.

I think the big picture numbers say that Nilsson is getting better goal support, but the chart suggests the Sabres are taking fewer dangerous shots when he plays.

Could it be that Lehner is just plain bad luck? The Sabres take more dangerous shots when he's in the pipes, but score fewer goals???
