I had hoped that the Sedins were shifted to 2nd unit power play. Sven Stecher Sedin Sedin Sutter is just not doing it.
- Codes1087

They actually took Stecher off and put in Edler. The talk is why not load up with Bo as he's got good net front presence over what Sutter does.

But the Sedin issue won't go away. If they are too slow or can't cycle like before they have supposedly the best passing and vet abilities for controlling the play.

Would be fine if they gave more time to a Bo, LE, Sven, Granlund, and Stecher unit. Post up Bo & LE in front. Have Granlund, Sven rotate from blue to wall with Stecher walking it in the middle.

I was a little surprised by this as well. The Preds managed to change their forward—and that was Jarnkrok, who had the gas in the tank to break away.

Apparently the Canucks have done most of their 4-on-3 practice with the group we saw last night—I don't have the stats handy, but they're usually money in that situation. I'm not sure a change would ever have been in the cards.

The blame actually lies with Stetcher and his decision making.
Stetch has a lot of goodwill with fans, so he's given a pass here (no pun intended) and the Sedin's cop the blame.

In hindsight, blasting it from the point 3 or 4 times in OT was not a good play.
Imagine if Edler had been on the point and had his shots blocked leading to the goal!!!

It was all on Stecher, last guy back and getting your shot blocked is bad enough, but he looked like he was following his shot after he took it and nobody was back.

I still give him the good will. Young player trying to make something happen, mistakes will be made, just hopes he learns and adjusts.

Hank has been close, but they are definitely going through a tough (if not predictable) patch here.

In an alt universe, Hank has scored on a couple that he would normally have, have some lucky bounces and be near 1000 points, completely flipping the script.

so true

I think him blasting from the point just shows his inexperience. He has time to load up and step into one for the game winner, as a kid you know thats what he was going for and was pumped for the opportunity. Hopefully it doesnt make him gun-shy, but he keeps his head up a bit more

He doesn't want to be asked about trading players with ntc's... maybe our media will ask the players?

Worst players to ever wear the sweater. If only they were Canadian farm boys we would have a dozen cups by now.

Yup.
Also, Benning didn't say he wouldn't go to the player's agent to ask them to waive.

There was Sedin frustration with their development early on, but the Sedin hate has mostly been from people outside the fanbase. Now its all "Sedins are too slow", "Sedin's shouldnt be out there", "Sedins pass too much", "Sedins have too much say", etc. I dont think I have ever heard a fanbase female dog about their own future HOFers before

This is the first year I've been totally frustrated with them. They are pretty useless, and not effective NHL players anymore. I get loyalty and all, but next year should be their last in the NHL IMO.

Are we being serious here?

They are fantastic players, tremendous role models and pillars of the community.

For fcuks sake, they go through a bit of scoring slump and the fan base turns on em.

Both are top 10 all time scoring for active players.

Give your head a shake.

He also just said he's not trading picks and they are neither buyers or sellers. These guys will stand pat unless a can't refuse deal falls on their lap.

So it looks like he's looking at drafting scoring.

Benning on this year's draft: "The top 20 can be good NHL players. There's 10 guys we think can be 20-goal scorers."

- VanHockeyGuy

Would make sense given lack of scorers in organization. Top 20, so will that ease the draftists/tankers tension
