I don't think they have declined much, its the league has gotten faster is more like it. - Bettmanhatesus
They are much slower this year, which just happens when you age. They can still cycle super well, but there is just no way they can keep up with a Dylan Larkin or a McDavid or McKinnon

They will be buyers by not moving anyone. - Nuck4U
This is probably the stupidest thing you say.
Doing nothing does not make them buyers. Just simply say "We already knew there will be no trades" and leave it at that. JB has a complete inability to make a trade at the TDL. It's like he would die of an allergic reaction if he sold a player.
Time to shut him down and put on IR. Put Boucher on deck - Nuck4U
rodin may never fully recover, its really unfortunate for him what has happened in the last year he was coming around as a late bloomer. He needs to take the rest of the year off and hopefully get that knee better.

Awful lot of hate for the Sedins today. Say what you want, they have been a huge part of the Canucks success over the last 10 years and probably deserve a bit more credit. They may be soft, they may be 36, and they might not play exactly like people want them, but god damn people give them some credit. 36 years old and controlling possession against some top teams with their core players being like 22 average. I think they simply are playing good hockey, but are 36, so they are going to being to dip and we are all starting to see the results of father time. - Codes1087
From the last blog...
The issue is they have 2 players worth 12 million that are showing they are in the twilight years. As much as I love the Sedins and what they've done for our city and franchise over the years, we have to accept that until they retire or are traded (very unlikely) this franchise will be what it is as we continue to draft and develop. I don't want to push them out, they've earned the right to stay.
I know WD is trying to keep his job, but for me as a fan I would like to see more development. What do we have in Rodin, Subban, Pedan, etc...? Who cares if we win as long as we are developing players and continue playing a hard working, gutsy game, and giving younger players a taste of what it takes to be here. We'll win enough to keep it interesting, and have something worth watching in developing players. It will also likely put us in a better drafting position. If they announced that Rodin would be playing the next 2 weeks with the twins I know I'd watch.
I've liked watching the Canucks this season because of their workmanlike effort and the development of players like Stecher and Tryamkin. Just want to see more of the same and to not have to wait for an injury to a Megna, Chapoo or Skille to see another player get a chance. If Boucher was inserted into the lineup, that would be worth watching. Not sure if WD gets that (or anyone else in Canucks mgmt.)

all part of JBs masterplan.
Overplay the eager kid in preseason...shut em down.
There was Sedin frustration with their development early on, but the Sedin hate has mostly been from people outside the fanbase. Now its all "Sedins are too slow", "Sedin's shouldnt be out there", "Sedins pass too much", "Sedins have too much say", etc. I dont think I have ever heard a fanbase female dog about their own future HOFers before - WhiteLie
The biggest problem with the Sedins right now is that they are not playing with anyone that compliments them. Danny is no longer the shooter, so we need a Vrbata type with them that is ready for a one timer whenever that pass finally comes his way. LE was great with the twins back when Danny shot and LE was more net front that tipped and got rebounds. Now nobody shoots for LE to get his dirty goals and they can't get good passes to him where he plays.

Isn't this essentially the tank vs try to win argument again?
The mgmt is not on board with a tank.
players are not on board with a tank.

I agree with this. They have struggled this year because they had new linemates and the replacements are now limited. It used to be they got (essentially) first pick for who they want, but now Horvat/Sven are developing chemistry and producing so the options are becoming more limited

The League will get faster every year moving forward though. The fact still remains that Henrik and Daniel can't keep up with over half the league now is what is scary. I blame age more than I would use the excuse that the league is just getting faster. They kind of go hand in hand.

They are tied for the last playoff spot. I get the pessimism around the team, I dont think they can hold on either, but at least let it play out until after the TDL before you start auditioning AHL call ups and such

Since you are confused I will break it down for you. The team has UFA's they could/should move. By keeping them they are staying the course for the stated goal of trying to make the playoffs. By not Selling they buy into the playoff goal. However, lack of depth of assets prevents them moving futures for rentals or adding a player upgrade piece. A buy situation they can't afford.
By the way it's also poking some fun at the issue stating it that way.
Lighten up okay

if anyone has a chance, try to watch the hawks 4 on 3 OT PP they had last night against the wings ... no one on the 1/2 boards and no one below the goal line (in the offensive zone) ... keith scores on a blast from the deep slot ... canucks ... hank on the 1/2 boards and danny below the goal line ... playing pass ....
I think him blasting from the point just shows his inexperience. He has time to load up and step into one for the game winner, as a kid you know thats what he was going for and was pumped for the opportunity. Hopefully it doesnt make him gun-shy, but he keeps his head up a bit more - WhiteLie
He was likely bored out of his mind watching hank and Danny piss away the power play down in the corner without once getting the puck to the net

Was he bored out of his mind, or is it just us? The Sedins have been doing this forever, the only difference between this year and years past is they dont have a strong RH shot on the weak side. Kesler, Vrbata used to hold that down and they had a good shot with Salo, but the Sedins have always been the two to pass it around and find them

I don't understand this thought process....they have always made a nobody winger into a star. They are no longer capable of that level of play. Can you not see that the real problem with the Sedins is the rather steep decline of their skills
