So the question is... In todays boring hum drum NHL will we ever see another 70 goal scorer? Personally I say no... Brett Hull was the last one to do it in 91-92 |

Losses happen. Every team loses. We hadn't lost outright in 4 games. That's not so bad. - Buffalo--Sabres

It still sucks though. It was another 1 goal loss (I don't count the EN). When you start to look back on those, they're going to bite us in the ass eventually. All the missed points from OT/SO and so on... |

Yeah but a road game against of formidable team. I guess I wrote the playoffs off already so I ain't even mad. Let see Eichel busts up his ankle untouched a day before the season starts, Kane breaks himself trying to make up the difference and Oreilly's appendix burst this year. It just wasn't in the cards for us this year. |

i think it would require fundamental changes. bigger nets, smaller pads, somehow getting defensive players out of shooting lanes... a lot of it is the coaches, whatever the rule changes are the coaches will always conclude that controlling a game is about not allowing the other team chances to score. theres no way to get the coaches out of the way unless you physically make it easier for the puck to go in. |

This debate. I don't like the idea of making the nets bigger. I don't think we should deviate form how big the net has been worldwide since who knows when all for the amusement of the NHL fan. I think they have to work out the goalie equipment thing. However I'm not a goalie so I have no idea how they can do that safely. I also think the proposed idea of making shot blocking illegal is just silly. |

Goalies survived just fine without having a damn house surrounding them.... |

Yes but the stick that were taking the shots were heavy wood with minimal flex. These sticks now are insane compared to what they had even in the early 90's. |

I vote for larger ice surface. That would open up more shooting lanes. What if they pushed the blue line closer to Center Ice? |

After watching his fight we now know why...
Pretty sure he's feeling it this morning.
Also talk about a bad GWG to give up. A perfect one timer after Nilsson kicked that rebound into the slot...(I'm half joking but if it were Lehner people would be all over him but it wasn't being he's sick so he's injury and sickness prone right?) |

Go to wood sticks. Just like MLB. |

The game is too fast and there's too many players on the ice to be able to keep track of that. |

Thought about that. Or like modern aluminum bats, you could mandate a maximum flex. |

Yes and it invites a level of micro management that everyone involved would hate. |

Eh. I'm not so sure right now. Going into last night's game, they were only 1 point ahead of us.
And O'Reilly's appendix didn't burst, it was just inflamed.
But I get what you're saying. My issue is that they've had opportunities to make up some ground and have failed every single time so far it seems. |
