We seem to have a hard time against the Canes.

Interestingly enough, if I'm not mistaken, we've done better in the 2nd game of back to backs this season. Or at least I feel like I remember hearing that a some point a few weeks ago. I could also have dreamed that.,

This debate. I don't like the idea of making the nets bigger. I don't think we should deviate form how big the net has been worldwide since who knows when all for the amusement of the NHL fan. I think they have to work out the goalie equipment thing. However I'm not a goalie so I have no idea how they can do that safely. I also think the proposed idea of making shot blocking illegal is just silly.

Two things can be done to bring scoring back, maybe not to it's peak as goalies are just much better now, but to the level it was the year after the lockout.

1. Most important, above all else, is to all all penalties, and especially interference. No more lead blocking by a forward or D while the other player gets the puck.

2. Make blocking a shot a true deterrent, meaning make it clear that if a player other than the goalie blocks a shot, an injury will almost assuredly be the result, even if that means reducing the padding players wear.

I know number 2 would be more unpopular but the amount of shots that never make it to a goaltender now is striking, especially with many teams just packing in all 5 players around the goal and acting like there are 6 goalies on the ice instead of 1.

The game is too fast and there's too many players on the ice to be able to keep track of that.

I understand this is very much fantasy land, but you couldn't somehow legislate that every team must send at least 2 players attacking in the offensive zone at all times, unless they are on the PK?

89, if you really want to be discouraged before tonight's game, take a look at the Canes' record at home is this year.

btw, think it was you that pointed something out about Leslie Frazier. Good call.

At some point the NHL has to make this game more entertaining. Right now it is right up there with watching paint dry....

Eh. I'm not so sure right now. Going into last night's game, they were only 1 point ahead of us.

And O'Reilly's appendix didn't burst, it was just inflamed.

But I get what you're saying. My issue is that they've had opportunities to make up some ground and have failed every single time so far it seems.

This is absolutely correct. Each time they get to a spot where they can do something meaningful they fall right back.

Agree with #1, #2 just isn't possible. It's a solution but it's micro management to get a desired result.
