I fell like you nailed a lot of what went down last night Michael. Jack needs to step up and be a difference-maker. Yeah his line mates aren't the greatest right now but he needs to carry that line regardless of who is on it. Having said that, I do like how he shot the puck last night...he came close a couple of times, he put a lot on a couple of those shots. That's where his money is at. Not many guys can bury from distance on a good old wrist shot...but he can. I was also baffled as to why Disco took him off his off-wing on the pp. Why would you ever do that? Again, not many guys can tee up a one-timer like Jack can...don't waste that weapon.

Someone posted earlier about moving one of the three centres to wing. Maybe they should try Eichel on Sam's wing. Imagine Eichel flying up the wall (he does anyways) but now he's got Sam in a better spot to distribute (which I feel he is more superior to Eichel in that regard anyways). One of Jack's best moves is stepping off the half boards, cutting to middle and ripping it top shelf. Maybe try him there. They've tried everything else.

thx, gipper and all great points...just would need reinhart to finish...jack set him up beautifully a couple games ago and reinhart missed

Moving Jack to the wing with Sam centering might be a great move... that's why Byslma won't try it

I haven't listened to the after game pressers with Bylsma but has ANY reporter asked whats up with the Line Juggling ????

They need to play Physical and Fast tonight to compete with the Canes, Ward has been playing better, but he is beatable.

- MEBSabresFAN

Not really, because literally every coach does it. Maybe not quite to the extent he does, but every coach does it. Injuries don't help either, makes it tough to keep the same lines when guys are missing.

This season.

Yak isn't great by any means. But when given the chance he can produce offense.

- sbroads24

Because his QoC sucks. And yes, it matters when you play as few minutes as he does.

Jack would be totally wasted on the wing. He carries the puck up ice, that's his biggest strength, you can't take away 1/2-2/3 of his ice. That would be a monumental error.

Edit: He can do all those things mentioned from center, stepping off the half wall and shooting. That's the great thing about being a center, he can roam. You can't do that from the wing, you're locked down on one side of the ice.

Kinda looks like it or are those fuzzy stats ?
- cabin

Kind of fuzzy, Kane and O'Reilly play a ton, so their numbers, naturally will be lower than normal, and Yak plays very little, and against inferior competition so his numers are a little inflated. Yak is immensely talented, otherwise he wouldn't have been the #1 overall, but he hasn't put it together at the NHL level.

Capitals defenseman Karl Alzner is about to make his own little bit of history tonight when he plays in his 500th consecutive game.

Holy sh!t

- jochfr

How many did Doug Jarvis play in a row? 1,000?

Edit: 964. Cogliano is the current leader at 704, but that's wikipedia, so I don't think this season counts yet, but I could've sworn that he missed a game last year.

Double edit: Cogliano is at 748, and he has never missed a game in his entire NHL career. That's nothing short of amazing.

The league leader in that category is Steven Stamkos

Followed by Saad and Crosby. If it was a 4th liner leading in points per 60 than that point would make sense.

I was reading a little on this guy and he has nice stats at Northeastern and is described as a two center that plays in all situations. He's very good along the boards and in heavy traffic situations.

SB Nation has him as their #1 college free agent. The #2 guy on their list is the guy I would like the Sabres to look at, Daniel Brickley. He was Casey Nelson's d partner at Minnesota State and he's having a terrific year. He was in Sabres development camp last summer. He's 6'3" 205 and an offensive force. His skating needs work and could be considered a project but get him to Rochester and let Lambert work with him.

Other college free agents are Mike Veechione, second in the nation in scoring. Neal Pionk, a d man at Minn-Duluth, Blake Winiecki/St. Cloud State and Peyton Jones, goalie at Penn State.

How do you know it sucks? He's played minutes with the 1st line, and minutes with the 4th line. He's basically played the role of William Carrier or Bailey
