Oh yeah I saw it, I am not excusing Kane at all but Bishop did give him the old how do you do with the butt end (its a subtle move that goalies do) The Kane "spear" was stupid but it wasn't this aggressive spear. Dumb yes
- Stripes77

I'm not saying he's Connor McDavid or anybody like that but when that poop happens Connor McDavid he just ignores it etc

He's old enough to realize to just walk away

Easy.
This team has way too many passengers and players who are well past their prime pulling down significant $'s. Furthermore, TDL deals typically command high prices...which this team can't and shouldn't afford/spend.
Therefore, in my mind they should be Sellers no matter the scenario. Dump those guys and get what you can. Backfill with Rochester for the remainder of the season.

Now, if we could land One of the Ducks young LHD's for reasonable....Pull the trigger.

Consistent yes, but not nearly good enough He's brutal on the power play and is potentially keeping Nylander, Baptiste, Bailey or another off the roster and power play. under .5 pts per without being a PK or PP specialist is simply not worth retaining
- jcragcrumple

A 3rd liner is not keeping Nylander off of this team...

Nobody on the team is a PK specialist this season, so of the 6 other forwards on the team that are behind him in scoring, why is Gionta always getting crapped on?

My father did that on the phone to me a week or so ago, about him and Girgensons. Those two then scored in the 3rd period that same night to win the game.

3rd line winger, tied for 5th in points on the team.

I don't get the Gionta hate anymore. Sure, when Bylsma had him on the 1st line it was ridiculous, but that's not the case this season. He's playing in a perfect spot.

- stashu

he's nightmarish in his own end and for a savvy veteran he takes his share of dumb penalties too, like last night.

More importantly, i dont know that betting one someone who will be 39 next year to be a solid contributor in your top 9 is such a good idea.

Like Goose said I don't like him on Eichel's wing but I am fine with him on the 3rd
- Stripes77

He's been there all of twice this year, and it's been the last two games. That's not Gionta's fault. I said the same as well, him being on the 1st line so long last season was bonkers.

So then are you going to trade Okposo to make room? Reinhart? You have lose the bottom 6 players to bring in the young guys unless you're going to trade your top 6.

Anyone beside 82 and 22 on the bottom 6 should be gone IMO. That's where the youth movement starts. Cheap, young, fast players on the bottom 6 rounding out the roster

Not "top 9", literally 7/9. No reason he should be playing anywhere above a 3rd line, especially if the team gets the youngsters going next year. He hurts no one by being on this roster. I'd drop a minimum of 3 other forwards before I'd consider Gionta an issue. (though they've already taken care of 1 of those)

Yeah i would argue we need to swap out the bottom 6 for better PK players. People talk about making roster changes to get better, but when it comes to individual players, no one actually wants to change anything. Girgs scoring once every 10 games doesn't mean he should stay

He was forcing him to drop his gloves though so he didn't go for 5 by himself, watch again he was trying to pull him back up to make sure he dropped them

I know but you figure this team competes it will be when they can roll three effective lines and a fourth one that doesnt suck ass.

I agree though bigger issues. If they can turn Moulson/Deslauriers into Nylander/someone else I'll be ecstatic.
