Totally. It's been brought up by you and Dragon the PP strategy hasn't changed since the AV days. Many others like Bullfrog WeAre etc. want change too. We blame the Sedins but that's what they know until someone takes charge and starts a new plan and alter the personnel accordingly. - Nuck4U
I really dont think there is much you can change with the strategy. The Sedins are pretty good at taking whats given to them, the way they set up allows them to go feed from the half-wall, goal line, and point. They have back door options, slap pass, etc. we have seen them use all the combinations that every other team uses, its just our players arent nearly as good anymore |

Just something I found interesting, while researching, there's only 58 guys with a PPG average of 1.0 or above in league history. Damn it's hard to score in the NHL!!! - LeftCoaster
Thats surprisingly low! I even though 85 players having 1000 points seemed low..
Crazy to think only 20 players have a goals per game average over 0.5 |

Thanks Carol!
Sorta reply to Bullfrog:
I wouldnt be opposed to prioritizing another unit without the Sedins, but I think my point still stands that the team lacks RH skill. Even though they were brutal along that period mention in the blog, in 2014-2015 they were 18% and 11th in the league. And I dont think its a coincidence that it was Vrbata's first season here. In the prime PP years they have Kesler and Salo as those RH threats.
I think even if you have a PP lineup of Bo, Sven, etc. the only RH forward options are: Dorsett, Hansen, Megna, Skille and Sutter. On D its Stecher, Gudbranson, Biega, Tanev and Larsen. The D arent bad, but its a group lacking a lot of skill IMO - WhiteLie
Would right hand skill matter as much if the Sedins didn't keep the puck buried behind the goal line or tucked up tight along the right half wall? If we simply ran our powerplay from say the left side or the point...we may be better positioned to take advantage of our more skilled yet lefty dominated forward group? |

I think they need more talented players pushing the Sedins aside before you can just flatout say you're not playing the PP anymore. That's not going to happen until then.
Daniel has 24 points, 9 of which are from the PP, Henrik has 27 points, again 9 of which are on the PP. Not sure what their total ice-time on the PP is but I suspect it's up there at the top. But really, who are the other choices if you sit them, you don't have anyone. - LeftCoaster
I don't agree...45 games...9 powerplay points 90 percent of pp minutes? I think shampoo Skille and gaunce could luck out 9 times in 45 games. We don't need more talent...we need new direction and new opportunity |

Changes are needed at this point the strategy hasn't changed much other then changing blue liners from PL, to Stecher to Edler. None of them have the big, dangerous shot from the point. Elder's has left him plus he can't get it off too. But he's not a right hand shot. That's the biggest issue which you have seen. Wether it's Bo, Sedins they can't feed anyone with this strategy without big right hand shot. - Nuck4U
You don't need a gun....you need to hit the net...then you need someone in front of the net and some extra people who...when seeing all this think hey I should get to the net too. The biggest issue I see has nothing to do with a right handed shot...it's two guys controlling all our powerplays who only wanna show off how great they can pass the puck to each other. All great pps feed off people getting to the net. Taking the puck to the net...Sedins want to try and pass the puck through two penalty killers to get it there. Back in the day when they could entice a defender to chase them it worked great...opened up passing lanes and we fed well. The league knows not to chase and the one trick pony has not adjusted. |

I wouldnt be opposed to it running it off the left side, or at least bring more movement on the PP to create more openings, I just think at this point it is a bit challenging with the personnel. I do hope they give Rodin a shot on the PP, and that Boeser can be worked in next year. Boeser runs the PP from the left side at UND and can also be a triggerman if we are running it through Bo, Sven or Henrik on the right side |

Obviously the team needs more talent, but, yes, I'd agree with shaking the PP up a bit. Even if it means splitting up the twins. |

New direction and new opportunity you say, and 4U wants Bo with more ice time, well I think I have a solution.
PP1 - Danny, Bo, Sutter
Granlund, Stecher
PP2 - Sven, Hank, Bo
Tryamkin, Edler
PK1 - Sutter, Bo
Tanev, Edler
PK2 - Bo, Burrows
Sbisa, Stecher
5v5 - Danny, Hank, Bo
Sven, Bo, Sutter
Loui, Bo, Burrows
Grandlund, Bo, Skille
5v3 Bo
Tanev, Stecher
Net - Miller, backup Bo
Markstrom, Backup Bo
Well look at that, pretty fcuking good team right there, and I got rid of Chaput, Megna and Beiga. |

Isn't obvious, no, well i'll tell you then, Iron Mike Keenan..
EDIT: would have chosen Torts but he'll be in high demand after winning the Jack Adams, and Columbus's 1st Stanley Cup. |

Yeah....I know in the grand scheme dam Skippy we do...just saying as far as Jumpstarting the dead powerplay. We have enough talented players to run a couple good units without the twins. Certainly good enough to match our current 13.9 % unit were running - Bullfrog77
I'm not sure if we really do currently with Megna, Chaput & Skille but Horvat, Baertschi, Grandlund, Sutter and Eriksson could make two units if you split up the Sedins. |

And they made you the ref ? Pretty harsh troll job Makita. I never said anything about Bo's deployment or lack thereof . Simply saying 4 years of failing results should not be tolerated ...no matter what number is on the sweater...shame on you |

Well if we follow the Sedins model we only need one 5 man unit...to stay out the full two minutes |

Lighten up, go back and read the 1st sentence, never insinuated you said anything about Bo, it was a facetious post carrying over all the drama.
Absolutely nothing against you or your post.
