Personally I don't think the playoffs should be a building team's goal, hear me out on this, I think it should to play the right way (in all three zones), to play with structure as a five man unit, to draft and develop and to continually get better as individuals.
If you keep adding quality young players to a group that plays well together, the wins will come and the playoffs will follow.
If you just say our goal is to make the playoffs you can make poor management decisions grasping for something that isn't within reach. I'd rather they made the playoffs with an actual chance to win. - LeftCoaster
I hear you but I agree and I don't.
Playoffs are a huge tool for young players confidence and learning what it takes in the real show. Your goal should always be to win. |

Ok, then answer me this....The Sedins said that they will not let anyone displace them from top line min and top PP time, there are guys producing better then the Sedins but still don't get the extra playing time, why? Why then do they still thrown out there as much as they do? - Kaynine

Actually the Sedins have said on more than a few occasions that when it's time for them to take a step back they will…and it's happening this season with Bo.
Ultimately the Sedins know what is best for the team long-term…classy guys that wan't the best for the organization. |

I completely agree with this. But at the start of every year your goal has to be to make the playoffs. Lots of quality teams make the playoffs as well as draft and develop. |

Maybe Nuck4u is Botchford cause I don't read his dribble either. |

When did they say this?
I've seen them quoted as saying the complete opposite, that they would welcome someone pushing them to 2nd line. |

No they don't. They create sh*t-storms purely for reaction. Everyone from the Canucks must have to be constantly swallowing back small mouthfuls of vomit every time they do an interview on 1040. - Marwood

Ok, that is what I was referring too. It's just a line has done that and yet they are still deplaoyed as the top line.

Dammit I'm having a killer week in the hockey pool, but petro is having the week of his life, close in every category. I've got 36 points, I'd be killing Donna and his 19 points, -9, this week if I was playing him…Lucky bastard is playing a lemon this week! |

I wouldn't call him a sheep but he has a hard time changing things when in his mind it's going "real good", whether the stats back it up or not. We can look at our current PP or the Vey experiment on the PP in his first year. Or when he does change things it takes him too long to do it.

Although i still stand by my prediction that there will be little trade movement at the TDL this year, especially from the Canucks, it's still fun to dream.
Here are my dream trades (yet still somewhat based in reality).
Burrows and Sbisa to Mtl for Juulsen. Van can retain salary and/or take salary back as required.
Mtl gets a top 4 D they need (this year and beyond) and Burrows, who can play up and down the roster. I don't really know how they'd fit the salary in though.
Hansen to Pitts for a 2nd rounder. Seems like a good fit for Pitts.
Miller to Dallas for Niemi, Nichushkin. Old idea, we take on a avg goalie for next year (gives Marky a decent back up for another year until Demko is ready), plus take a flyer on a risky ruskie. |
