Yeah, shorts and steel-toed boots. The boots have two purposes.

I was, and I thought Edler was garbage as well. But we were worse without him lats year and we were worse without him this year. The writing on the wall is there, Tryamkin and Stetcher are 1-2 seasons away from completely replacing Edler on our D. I would still trade Edler if a deal was there as I care about 3 years from now more than right now. Same with Tanev, keep 1 trade the other. Makes us better in the future when we need to be better.

He's in a great spot, proved everyone wrong and keeps on getting better.

Torts is about to win the jack adams after being a complete poop show on the Canucks.

Maybe... just maybe... It has something to do with the players who is he coaching, and less about the coach himself.

There are certainly differences in the rosters, but, anecdotally, he has apparently changed also.

Torts actually had a pretty decent team to work with here too...real good record here up until Jan 1 where the injuries killed him. I think we had 8 starters out at one point in Jan-Feb of the Torts year. Frustration had completely set in by the end of feb that year with the Flames/Loowingo incidents and by then we were 10-12 points out.

how. He was on such a PC leash when Gillis hired him. I don't think there is as much media attention in CBJ as in VAN so he can say whatever it is he wants without the media hounding him. I think this is more or less about the difference between a good roster and bad one.

Media, is a terrible thing. But Torts has toned down his rants, so i guess that has helped him alot.

Plus when you have defenseman like Jones, Johnson, Murray and Werenski it helps.

Crowd was reasonably lively and fun but wow...an incredibly boring game. I must say the 4pm start is awesome. Out for dinner and drinks by 7 and home by 10pm

Sven said something in a pre game interview about the team enjoying playing for the younger crowd of afternoon games. It must be a different atmosphere, maybe more fun than the later starts and not in a rush to get home and to bed for work the next day.

I liked the timing of the game yesterday too, and thought the crowd was quite animated considering what was happening on the ice. We haven't had many games that dull this year.

I still wrote a blog about it, though. Please click here to read!
