He's been pulling this crap for years. Picks a target and doesn't let up regardless of what that person says. It's childish, unconstructive, and boring.
I’m calling him out on it from now on. - bloatedmosquito
I don't mind...I find it funny when people show just how stupid they really are. Some people come to discuss things here...and sadly some just wanna fling poop on those people. Pretty pathetic really lol |

Actualy, Hutton has proved consistently that he can't handle being in a top four paring, which is why he's on the bottom pair (and hopefully stays there until he gets a bit better in his zone). - neem55
Thats why I typed it as "top 4", because he has been with Gudbranson most of the year, whereas Tryamkin has been mostly paired with Sbisa and Biega which definitely tell me they are seen as 3rd pairing. When injuries struck though the two ended up being paired together |

When Hank does get his 1000th pt Do you think it will be the lead on SC? Or will it be another 15m piece on Matthews breaking the glass in practice? |

Are the Blackhawks the team that best manages their cap? Every season they add quality at the TDL and yet have one of the strongest regular season rosters in the NHL. |

I think it helps greatly that they were able to sign Seabrook for $6.8M and Keith for $5.5M amongst other low cap hits. If players want to play for you they will leave money on the table. Must be nice... |

I'm the idiot? Sedins aren't off the books this summer we got a whole other season dishing out 14 mil. Miller s deal is up...but is likely to be resigned as per Trevor linden s interview a month or so ago. There 20 of your 30 mil still sitting right there. Sbisa is likely done and Burrows probably as well. Chapoo Megna and Skille could all be resigned as well. So considering Bo will get a 4 mil plus raise and Guddy is likely close to 4 mil raise....that's most of your freed cap space gone on two people. Sure maybe Sedin money comes after next summer. But it's more likely the team resigns them to play again...because we still won't have anyone to replace them. I will keep up the good posting....you on the other hand, really need to up your game - Bullfrog77
Sedins won't be resigning at 7mill per. they have one season left. they'll get something like 3.5 on a one year deal after that. that's only 7 mill between the two of them. Miller resigns at a lower cap hit next season. like 4 mill on a one year deal. so it's 18 mill out of 30 for next season and only 7 out of 30 mill the season after cuz Markstrom probably only needs one more year as a backup. Next season, 12 left over bo and guddy get the 8 you mentioned, which leaves 4 mill for next season. the season after they'll have 11 mill or more. |

Keith left a tonne of money on the table for his longterm deal. i guess he didn't think there would be this level of wage escalation.
i'd say he was more integral to the hawks success than toews the last time around. |

I think he left money on the table because he feels that the hawks give him the best chance at winning multiple cups. He ain't wrong so far. |

That 13 year deal for Keith and 12 year for Hossa definitely helped them keep two stars for under market value. That and their use of guys on ELC contracts, either from drafting well or trading off players for more youth. I think being so tight forces them to be this way, having that pressure to win and be cap compliant makes you be active instead of hoarding players until they are past their prime... *cough* Vancouver *cough* |

The twins did it but I can't think of anyone else. Maybe Burrows.
Let's see if Horvat thinks the same way. |

At the time I thought he was taking in a really good haul, but considering Toews and Kane are making $12m more than him in 6 less years is insane |

Most important player for the Hawks by far last cup run. |

so true.
But Vancouver has a strange complex about wanting to be liked. I think when basketball players started to reject Vancouver it started an emotional trend that affects this market to this day. Bertuzzi and Luongo contract negotiations stand out for me as a tragic series of events. |

Definitely agree with that. I think they wanted to create heros, like the Linden's of Vancouver sports, beloved and forever a Canuck.
I was thinking I wish they had drafted well enough to force them to trade players for good assets, but sadly I think if we had a Boeser or Virtanen pushing for an NHL shot, Vancouver wouldve moved them for deadline rentals instead and hung onto the Higgins, Burrows, etc. |

Just wanted to say Carol you're doing an incredible job at this. I used to jump around between different writers to get my canucks news. Now I just look at your blog and I'm done for the day. You cover all bases so well and very quickly too.
Keep it up!

I don't know if he left money on the table, his salary at the beginning of his contract in 2010/11 made him the highest paid defenceman in the league at 8 million per. Salary, not cap hit. Almost the same for 2011/12, he was the 3rd highest paid defenceman again at 8 million, Ehrhoff at 10 million was #1 and Chara at 8.5 million was #2.
2013, 2014 and 2015 he was again the fourth highest paid D man for actual salary. He's been paid handsomely over the past six years.

Paid handsomely, yes. But Subban is being paid the same $72m over 8 years, instead of 13, thats another 6 year deal on the table where he could have definitely added another 20m+ to his bank account |
