I am starting to wonder.. IF Canucks left Sutter/Eriksson unprotected, would they even get claimed with their $ tag? - Codes1087
Erikson has NMC this year and next strictly for the reason of us protecting him. I would try and trade Hansen at TDL. Sutter still has fills a need in top 9. |

Does a 3C @ 4.5 AAV get claimed though? |

Actually they only fought the leafs once for last place.
but nice try. - Fakepartofme
Twice, The leafs tried to get last for mcdavid and matthews. Edmonton just sucked and were trying to win but still almost beat you out for last. |

Good to hear. Green seemed to be saying this too. Though if he's showing this improvement you would think the Canucks who are power forward less could use him this season? Especially, if they actually hang on to the bubble and somehow make the playoff push a reality. - Nuck4U
Don't want WD ruining JV. let him finish the year in the AHL. If WD is not fired this off season send him there again next year. |

Cant do it with Loui (NMC), but Sutter is a curious one. Some here are fans of what he brings, though his cap hit isnt great. He has all the intangibles you want, but takes a beating from the analytics crowd, so its tough to say the direction Vegas would go, but I still think he gets claimed, $4.37 per season isnt terrible and takes him through his prime. - WhiteLie
Vegas would take him in a heartbeat. He's a Swiss Army knife kind of guy. Makes an impact in all 3 zones. The debate that is interesting is with the emergence of Granlund and verification of Sven being a top 6 is that shouldn't they be protecting the young players as a priority?
That leaves vets like Hanson and Sutter who don't have NMC as options. But losing anyone of them would be just as bad. Sbisa would hurt less because of D depth but it's also a loss. This VEGAS thing is getting worse by the day. It might be same for other teams. But the Nucks depth and talent is challenged. Hope JB surprises by getting value for players who could be lost for nothing. |

Why not? 3c are now making 3.5-4.5m in the league, the only ones that aren't are on old contracts which are expiring, and will be signing in that range when they end. More and more 3C are starting to sign for 4+ now as having s strong 3rd line is key to winning, and the 3C needs to be able to run the line. Pitts was a different one because they had an All-Star RW playing 3rd line. |

I've watched a few Utica games and Virtanen is looking really good. He's getting a lot of chances but there's been a lot of unluckiness (hitting posts, feeding others and then getting robbed) - point is, his stats don't tell the true tale of how he's performing.
He's hitting again, showing great hands, driving the net with speed and taking lots of shots. I truly think his shoulder was messed up at the beginning of the season and deterred him from playing with confidence.
He should finish out the year in the A and hopefully come in next year with fire. - Brooks_Light

We are one of the teams in the best position. Whoever we lose is 100% replaceable in UFA. Would just cost a few more $$. |

I think thats debatable now. This year at the halfway point, only 49 players are on pace for 20 goals that are under 25, Vancouver has 3 on that list eligible for expansion draft. For a team that doesnt score much, retaining young players with potential should be the priority over someone like Sutter or Hansen IMO |

Trade Hansen at TDL and protect everyone worth protecting. Lose Sbisa at draft. Problem solved. |

It might have to be the move JB makes. With few Sellers maybe a buyer will over pay with draft picks and junior prospects.
His injury may be good timing coming back soon. Also, recent absence, may make it easier for the team cause the guy has really stepped up getting involved. Hansen is peeking now. grit, leadership, scoring, hits and speed. Would make any team for long playoff drive that much better. Low cap hit too makes him easiest to trade. JV potentially could replace him in line up going forward minus the leadership. |

sounds about right.
Hansen to Pitts for a 2nd rounder.
would also like to move Miller and Burrows if possible @ TDL |

I think we could get a 2nd for Hansen but I still don't think Burrows has any value. None. Miller is harder to predict as injuries will dictate if there is a market |

I think you could get something for Burrows.
He is having a good bounce back year, plays up and down the lineup, can score, can agitate, can play PK.
Mtl is the obvious choice, you know Burrows would play his heart out there.
Mtl has 3 2nd rounders next year.
Burrows, 4th rounder to Mtl for 2nd rounder (via Wsh). |

we can retain or take back salary to make it work.
plus they got a bunch of dudes on IR, so doesn't that free up some cash?
Galagher, Markov on IR
Desharnais on LTIR |

Would love to see Burrows get a legit shot at the Cup with the Habs...guy has earned it IMO.
JB - 'hey Burr we have a potential deal in place to send you to Mtl for a Cup run'...
Burr - 'you had me at deal'... |

Throw in Tanev with Hansen as well to sweeten it up and maybe get something back. Neither player will ever be healthy or play a full season again so what the hell?
Losing Sbisa isn't going to hurt us at all. |
