Mtl will be using those 2nd rounders.
you can bank on it.
They are going all in this year.
Burrows would be a great addition, it's a win-win-win. - dbot

i'd also pitch them Sbisa, as they could use some insurance on the backend.
Salary is an issue though, as Mtl are v close to the cap, but that's why you have accountants and lawyers on mgmt teams. |

Then we would have Sbisa only left from the Kesler trade.
Benning will not let Sutter go for free - VANTEL
If Sbisa is claimed, we have no one left from the original Kesler trade after only a couple seasons |

So who will the Canucks protect?
Forwards: D. Sedin, H. Sedin, Horvat, Sutter, Eriksson, Hansen, Baertschi
Defense: Edler, Tanev, Gudbranson
This basically means Granlund is gone, unless Vegas picks Rodin or Sbisa. Is there a chance the Canucks trade Hansen (he seems the most likely one to trade out of that list) to keep Granlund? |

Someone said Burrows was worth a 2nd if 50%+ salary is retained. That would be SUPER ideal for us but I doubt it happens. I would take Montreal's 2nd (WSH) for Burrows and 50% salary retained. - Codes1087
Burrows for conditional 4th. Becomes 3rd of makes ECF, becomes automatic 2nd if Burrows gets 5 or more goals in playoffs. |

We are one of the teams in the best position. Whoever we lose is 100% replaceable in UFA. Would just cost a few more $$. - Retinalz
Curious which UFA's u see as replacements next season? |

I wasnt so sure before, because Hansen is probably worth more to Vancouver than the likely trade price, but given the performance of Sven and Granlund this year I think you have to push for a trade to open a protection spot.
Even if Granlund falls short of 20 goals, I cant imagine Vegas would pass on a young forward with under 200 GP who had between 15 and 20 goals in a season. Its a low risk, high reward if his development can continue |

I would look at Brian Boyle next year for the fourth line for 2-3 years and same with TJ Oshie for playmaking skills max 3 years |

Except upgrades.
Sutter is an upgrade on Bones
Guddy is an upgrade on McCann
Cap space is an upgrade on Sbisa |

The smart play is to trade Hansen and protect Granlund. |

Check the pages prior. That's the hope Hansen @ TDL. But JB and WD want playoffs. You never know. |

I would look at Brian Boyle next year for the fourth line for 2-3 years and same with TJ Oshie for playmaking skills max 3 years - VANTEL
Even with Sbisa being the likely player taken by Vegas if we trade Hansen, I don't see us having the cap for both. All of Burrows salary will be added on top of Bo's. Guddy will prob get 4.5, Tree needs at least 2, likely 2.5 bridge deal. That leaves 3mil from Miller + Sbisa money to spend, maybe cap increase as well. |

Honestly there are many combinations of trade possibilities. It is of course better to get something back rather than let someone walk for nothing.
There should really only be two untouchables on the team IMO , Bo and Tryamkin. If you can get an upgrade for a player or an asset by making a move then you do it.
Example . If a team is interested in Granlund and not Hansen then you look at the return and see if you can work something out.
Sven Granlund Sbisa are all B type players , the big thing to remember is to get value .
It is possible no or few deals get done but at least try. |

Sounds like window shopping. They look good but will they touch? Doubtful just on that term. Problems always with free agents. Do the needs and desire for them fit with what Canucks have? Money only goes so far. Plus other teams over pay too.
Also, Vancouver may be beautiful but an American star player like Oshie wants a US address. Do you remember any American star UFA's ever choosing to sign in Canada? It's hard enough getting Canadians. At least Europeans appreciate Canada. |

Oshie is from Washington State, but you're right, I have a hard time seeing him wanting to play in Canada. I'd bet hard on him re-signing with the Capitals, they're in a win now mode, the Canucks, sadly, are a long long ways from winning anything. |

You do need to be creative . Add also that you have to sign Boeser. You also need to decide where Rodin stands.
Canucks at theis time carry 9 Dmen that would need to change . Also we are squeaking in by carrying extra forwards that we are not using (Rodin Boucher. ) You would also probably not be using Brendan Gaunce if you bring in Boyle . Boyle and Oshie would probably cost between 4-5 - 5.5 .
We have players right now on IR but not LTIR so we don't get the cap relief .

Worst 4th line in the league, they contribute nothing other than resting the first three lines. They don't fight, they don't hit, they don't score, they just waste fresh air as far as I'm concerned. |
