Agreed. He has been fine. I don't get the praise he is receiving - CanuckDon
His resume as a vet of past battles. Plus recovery from injury plagued years he's showing he can still be a gamer. |

I don't think it can work that way. The protection list locks in for draft. Once pick declared Vegas has rights. Trades will happen after expansion draft though. Interesting idea on player upgrade. Like if Sven plus Hutton for Duchene is an upgrade? - Nuck4U
It will be a dominoes game for most if not for all teams come the expansion draft.
Some teams look fine while others do not. TBL looks to be in the biggest pickle. |

3rd wheels on a line r often maligned.
Hansen on the Sedins makes that line better.
Burrows on BO's line the same.
The NHL has pretty much always has built lines like that.
Start with a good pair who mesh & add the 3rd who makes it all go.
Complimenting D pairings no different. |

Words such as chemistry or click define the 3rd wheels ability to pitch in.
Clark Gillies with Trottier & Bossy is one prime example.
Morrison with Naslund & Bertuzzi for us.
Gradin Smyl Fraser prolly our best well rounded line ever.
They had all the tools to tick off every category. |

Was it Burrows that made Bo better or the other way around?

We did well on both those trades to the point 1 will prolly be exposed.
Double edge sword its turned out to be barring a trade. - Nighthawk
This Vegas expansion couldn't have come at a worse time
Only way out is if JB wants to and is able to find trading partners. A big ask normally. Add in skewed values under TDL because of Vegas expansion. Not to mention the stand pat approach for playoff push goal. |

When we speak of a Hansen or Burrows its the intangibles that make them.
Hustle & smarts game in game out makes them a coaches player.
Talent is nothing if they don't clue in to that.
Eg JV only needs to mature & see its all up to him to emulate his mentors. |

And not give the rest that Burrows offers as old as he is.
Megna has speed & a utility player who could only hope to be a Burrows 1 day.
Kill penalties & get his nose dirty for example.
Fixation on points is not everything. WCE didn't win us any cups.
Improve the PP goes a long ways.
The answer was not Burrows nor Megna now.
BB will be our hope as a PP sniper.
OJ the future PP QB. |

First I don't care about the other teams. As far as same, not really. Some have more core type players exempt. Many others have better depth. Players that can fill in role on who's taken. Canucks just building that depth and young prospect list. Like you recognized just building up a couple players here now is double edged sword. So to lose one for nothing won't be all poops and giggles. |

If I were JB....
Let Edler know he will not be protected.
The impetus to accept being traded.
Stars Habs Av's Hawks TBL Pens all potential suitors to name a few.
Protect Tanev EG Sbisa & solve expansion draft D protection.
Go after Alzner as a UFA.
Plan B trade Tanev by the TDL or offseason which ever fetches top value.
Juulsen/2 comes to mind but tough to pull off prolly.
The AV's for a big deal for Duchesne would be nice.
That would help pushing down the Sedins prime playing time.
Again go after Alzner as a UFA. If no success all good.
As for 7 forwards its either Hansen for a high prospect or keep him.
Finding a way to keep both Sven & Granlund won't be easy.
Possible back room deal with LV may be needed.
Exposing Hansen might have to happen.
If he were to fetch a 2nd idk if that player is worthy.
He is not worth a 1st but a 2nd is not much in my mind.
2-2nds from the Habs would be the ultimate lol |

I like your thinking with getting Alzner as a replacement Solid d-man and Washington can't afford him. |

Yes that reality is known. TBL has a lot of depth. Vegas will want one of each lol. The point on Canucks was about depth and development now.
So who the cost would be and what can be done to mitigate it. As in losing Guance or Pedan (Biega may qualify but won't be touched) are young assets more palatable. Possible if a couple vet assets are moved for futures so as to protect the other developed young and more high end players.
But it becomes whack a mole in the end lol. Like if they do those moves suggested on trades. Then maybe a guy like Rodin gets to play and shows well. Despite his UFA uncertainty Vegas takes the risk to claim him. |

Our final protected list will be what JB wants to go forward.
It will all be clear when LV makes their picks.
We can make moves to keep whomever JB wants protected.
Taking on a contract would be one choice.
All in all there is lots of time to sort it out. |

Bold and unexpected if any of that happens. They say no collusion on backroom deals. The NHL will be watching and crack down on taking away a 1st rounder.

The time on moves is really by TDL. After that there is hardly any value
pre-expansion draft. Fire sales of attrition are not worth the loss of one player. Then the big trading begins after leading into entry draft. |

I foresee the TDL being where the biggest deals will be made.
The entry draft will be pretty much uneventful.
The prospect pool is not the deepest IMO.
Offseason trades prolly tweakings only as in boring lol
UFA pool is thin as hell as well. |
