Well you're right it will get interesting as most free agents end up being busts (compared to cost), so to me more likely it will be a trade for higher cap hit players.
Also they dont have to submit for LTIR for players if they dont want to (and get to cap floor). - Lilroot9
You're right about the FA vs cost. I wouldn't be surprised if they go after Shattenkirk and/or Alzner depending on if they get to FA. Shattenkirk will most likely sign in Boston or New York though and Alzner stays In Washington. Like I said, they're gonna a have to spend it somewhere though

Mitch Marner is 164lbs. He looks good now but it is only a matter of time before somebody ends his career. Maybe McCabe will do it tonight.
There is no point arguing who has the better team. There is a league with a format that does that for us. The leafs are better. Injuries are just excuses. We need to be better. Either are players are not good enough, or our coaching is not good enough. Pick a side, fire somebody, move on. - staples
Have you see Johnny hockey ? Btw I would never wish that upon a player ..
Gorges has been terrible? We are better without him in the lineup.
Fransons expectations were a 5-6 D-man. He is playing above that beacause this team has no one else.
Yes, he should have. Bogosian was known to miss a lot of time, and be an overpaid, underperforming d-man.
Kulikov under performed while in FLA.
Murray should absolutely know what he is acquiring, he is an NHL GM. He is the one you have to hold accountable for the moves. Why is he getting a pass for making moves that didn't pan out? - ImThatGuy
Serious question. When we got Gorges, do we know that was not to keep the team bad, but seemed like a legit move to get better?

Mitch does quite well staying out of dangerous plays, but if someone takes a run at him there's not much he can do. Lindros got rocked and he was a beast

Gorges was signed for tank purposes and performed according to expectations until better and younger D-men could develop. That's what's happening now. So he's served his purpose. Franson is the same. Bogosian is clearly dropped off but I still don't blame Murray for picking him up in that deal. He wasn't playing like this in Winnipeg by the way. - fastek
What ? When we first got him I thought he was going to be a good player I think everyone thought that

all you need to do is have your head down for a split second

They will have no problem filling that cap space. That is never an issue (in my book). It will be interesting what they do to fill it, but not a concern doing so at all.
