Babcock went out of his way to temper playoff expectations for the leafs, under promise/over deliver

Murray and Bylsma failed this miserably. They set high expectations for a team that did little to improve areas of weakness, making a move now will only make things worse.

Get value at the deadline, re-evaluate end of season and make moves at the draft.

I'm thinking there will be 3 big "seasons" left for transactions - the 2 you mention plus the expansion draft window (teams wanting to get something for some players they may lose).

Keeping the roster "trim" to where they could add someone to the protection list in a trade like that could be nice.

I agree. It's been nothing short of a criminal job by Murray to not give Eichel a LW to play with. He swung and missed on Vesey who would've been the perfect piece. There really wasn't any solid FA LW's worth the dime and he either couldn't or didn't try to trade for one. Now we have to hope Nylander is ready next year. Its also pathetic that Kane and Eichel can't play together or Eichel and Ennis according to Bylsma all three want to control the puck is his excuse. Well then get someone who likes to cherry pick. Maybe a guy who use to play for this team and who was a free agent last year..... hm...

Great point. You hit the nail on the head. Rex's Ryan did the same thing. I would rather rewind three years ago. Murray is failing miserably and his assets are all gone. It looked good and hasn't ended bad

Jack is not at 100% speed with his ankle. Not an excuse, but I see what you see, I promise you, He has another level, we saw it last year, he's a beast. I have nothing negative to say about Mathews, I'm glad the Leafs have a American Savior as well
