I don't care what anyone says, picking in the, or near the, top, helps. But just drafting well as a whole is a huge difference maker.

Draft is a lot of luck too ...if Mathews was a couple days older he would have been in the previous years draft ...and most likely went to Phoenix at 3 and then the leafs take strome at 4

But instead the leafs got marner and Mathews

Now....no, Schneider is 30 years old. It's gonna be five years before the Canucks are any good. Horvat will be in his prime, Schneider will be almost done.

It just kind of shows you what you're dealing with. It's difficult to have reasonable discussions when people are so blind to the value or worth of pieces on their team.
