“We’re aware of what’s going,” Henrik said. “There’s no secret about that., But we want to go through that transition. We just hope (the younger players) can keep getting better and take on an even bigger role.”

Which leaves the question of 2017-18.

“We haven’t thought about next year,” Henrik said. “We rarely think past today. When the time comes we’ll be done or we can move on and be a good second or third line.”

So where does this leave us all with the Sedin issue

Sounds like they stick around as long as we need them.
Buys time to draft & develop players.
They won't stand in the way if pushed down or out.

Also sounds like very good hometown contracts in store for us.
Dedicated to helping us by staying or retiring.
Either way it shows where they stand & where we r going most likely.

Why not just use one of the many extra wingers laying around... and use one of the better D men???

Preseason is over.

Jake has 1 point in the last two or more weeks. Not going anywhere quick.

- boonerbuck

Ya might take jake awhile.

I happen to feel that Subban would indeed make a good winger. Watching him play he looks like a winger too. I'd like to see it tried at least since he seems to entirely lack the defensive instincts.

Nothing to lose in trying it

I would expect a small term smaller money contract given to them kinda like jagr and selanne did at the end. Obviously they are playing at a high level and with their dedication to fitness would expect that to continue for more years.

Lets see what the new recent changes does for their play, seems like the whole team has jump from it.

Our current & prospect D depth list...
http://www.rosterresource...om/nhl-vancouver-canucks/

LHD..........RHD
--------------------
Edler.........Tanev
Hutton......EG
Sbisa........Stecher
Tryamkin...Larsen
Pedan........Biega
OJ............Subban
Brisebois
Neill

The right side is smallish & weak offensively & not deep currently.
Tryamkins versatility comes in very handy for us.
Seems all the more less likely Tanev is traded unless a crazy offer is presented.
Time will tell if any team makes an offer JB cannot refuse.
Top 2-3 RHD r highly in demand & not easy to pry from teams.
Explains much why JB went after EG & the cost to get him.
Also explains the deal for Larsen & signing push for Stecher.
Big holes was on the right side D.
Edler is the linch pin if we wanna trade a D apparently if Tanev is a lock to stay.
LHD we can afford to move if his NTC can be gotten around.
Losing Sbisa to LV is something we can afford.
Drafting RHD is a need but who or when?
Liljegren Makar Foote r the top 3 rated RHD in the 1st round.
Later on rounds JB may mine RHD if he likes a F in the 1st.
Who if any could those be?

tree plays RHD not LHD. He can play either but prefers R. Mow there's EG and tree on the R. Not so weak.

Carol brought it up in the blog. Stetcher played as sick as he was even though Pedan is there. He could barley play but that was better then using an AHL call up. Unless there is no choice WD is sticking with his guys. I guess Megna couldn't get out of bed over Stecher vomiting and barely skating.

Only expect post all star break for PL to take over from Biega. Who will be probably shut down or held back for Vegas insurance. It's do or die time until the TDL and these are the guys that need to get it done.

- Nuck4U

So Subban does what for this situation?

Pedan will get used as a forward before Subban. Since he passed on Pedan the other night, I doubt he'd be comfortable with Subban.

I hear you what you are saying but I really doubt it's an experiment we would likely see mid season when the coach is trying to keep his job. Like I said, preseason is over.

To be fair, with most (not all) wanting to draft Dubois or Logan Brown last year, I think we should leave the drafting decisions to Jim.

Let's see if Green ever try's that with Subban seeing how they lack scoring forwards. WD is not one to experiment unless pressed so don't think it's happening with him.

Wrong post buddy didn't bring up Subban at all. In fact said PL will get used. Pedan back to AHL.

Go back and look. You quoted my post to Dragon who was talking about experimenting with Subban. Mistake is yours...

Dubois has yet to prove he is a true C
Brown was not to my liking.
No probs letting JB do the drafting.
He ignores my calls & won't pony up for my consultation fee.
He can read for free my HB posts still....

Honestly, not that it matters, but I think you've got to go will elite skill if you draft early. Don't worry about size at all. Size can be found later on. I'm sure Jim will draft the right guy, but some people have to calm their need for size. Otherwise you end up with Dylan Strome picked before Provorov, Werenski, Hanifin and Meier

I agree. BPA where we will be drafting is my choice.
BB is one example of that even though some passed on him.
Same for Demko somewhat. If a sniper is there we pick him.
A true playmaker C is another need for our wingers.
If its D available RHD takes precedence. Makar could be just that.
The way our D is getting big we can risk it that is we r picking 12-16.
Overall our high end skill can use upgradng for sure.

Even trading for top 6 scoring is fine by me.
It won't be cheap but its worth exploring.
Gotta be in the hunt sniffing for offense is still our biggest need.

Many here would disagree trading assets but the right player could put us in a real position to be a bigger PP threat where we r hurting the most for many years. I firmly believe its a big key to what ails us & come any PO's even more so. We don't scare anyone & it wins games teams have no business winning.

Was definitely no fan of D Strome but was very high on Werenski.
Provorov i also liked. As for a Russian he still was on my radar.
Hanifin was a lock to go high. Strome seemed to me to be an awesome
Jr but not my idea of a C in the NHL. Idk why tbh just a gut feeling.

We don't need them . Our scoring is almost last and we are not getting high draft pick. Move on

Move on when someone is better.
That is nobody atm.
If at the end of their contracts someone is then no probs.
Now for starters who is replacing Hank?
Cassels? UFA?

As for THEM i've said a few times Hank is serviceable still but Dank is not an automatic. The umbilical cord is no longer a card they can play if not in the teams best interest. Even if Hank has to retire if he could not perform suitably as in earn it thats fine.

I think Horvat replaces Hank until we get it right in the draft. It will be middle six by committee. We may need a stop gap but wouldn't have to sign/trade for a Hank replacement the way Horvat is developing. Horvat does buy us some time.
